    Constipation

If you have no pain or no urge to go then you aren't constipated. Remember on this journey we have a lot of time with fluids only so won't need to have our bowels open, then after fluids we have a much much smaller amount of food going in so you won't or shouldn't need to go so often. Constipation is when you have stool in your colon and rectum (often backed up much higher) that makes you feel the urge to have your bowels open and is painful and difficult due to it being very dry. You often have a hard and painful bloated tummy too. Having a fluids only or reduced food intake reduces greatly the amount of waste product your body makes so you will go far less often. After surgery, it was a good 2 weeks before I went which is perfectly normal. Everyone is different though and if you don't have pain etc mentioned above then you aren't constipated.

    Still in the hospital

So Lynda do let us know if September 20th turns out to be your Go Home Day. And stay strong- I believe you will find your new kind of Okay out of all this brouhaha. Love and a Hug to be delivered when you're less sore, at least virtually----- Frustr8

    Stinky Pee

Sorry it makes you uncomfortable to read about an issue I was concerned about. I figured it sounded better and than using the words squirt or gush odor. I wanted to see if anyone else probably had this issue that embarrassed me when it happened. There was jo warning in the reading materials we were given before surgery. So I just started my soft foods phase two days ago, so far so good....and then... Last night, I had a waaaay too realistic dream (nightmare!) that I woke up to the smell of pizza, and next thing I knew I had eaten two slices of supreme-everything-on-it pizza, then suddenly it dawned on me - just as I was eating the last bite - that I had just had my WLS! I felt horrified that I had actually forgotten! I panicked, felt sheer terror, was freaking out, crying, hysterical, the works! It was legit terrifying but when I woke up and realized it was just a nightmare, I felt so relieved, and then I burst out laughing because holy crap my nightmare wasn't about monsters or the usual scary stuff - but ABOUT PIZZA. 😂 Has anyone else had any "oops forgot I had WLS surgery and just ate something I shouldn't" dreams? Maybe it's just me and I'm a total weirdo, but still, I'm laughing about it at least, lol. 😆

    First Meal After Liquid Stage

Thanks all! Just bought a cookbook from amazon by Sarah Kent. I prefer the hard copy so I’ll be devouring that once it comes. Prior to this surgery I’d cram any food into my mouth regardless of whether I really liked it. I need to work on switching to high quality, nutritious food; quality over quantity. Very excited!

    French fries to the rescue

It turns out I was so emotionally distraught I couldn’t even eat the French fries (I ate only 4). So today I’m going to go to water aerobics after work to relieve my stress.
