    At home sleep study

    I’m almost done with my requirements. I just have 2 more weigh ins, the endoscopy and sleep study. Everything is scheduled except for the sleep study. I seen the pulmonologist today to get the order for the sleep study. He is ordering an at home sleep study instead of in a clinic. Has anyone had the sleep study done at home and it be accurate?

    I told NO ONE except my husband, brother, and my kids. My parents, friends and co-workers do not know I had surgery. When asked, I have two responses: 1) "Over 90% of people who lose weight gain it all back. Please ask me in a year and if I am successful in this process, I will share with you then." 2) "I am working very hard to lose and maintain permanent weight loss. You are welcome to do what I am doing: NO wheat, no sugar, no alcohol, no soda, no juice, no caffeine (by this time I have already lost them), no processed food, no refined grains, no artificial sweeteners/colors/flavors, low carb, high protein, lots of veggies, intermittent fasting, and a 1-2 hours of exercise a day." I would consider a heart-to-heart with an obese person who seems to be at rock bottom and willing to do whatever it takes. BUT... interestingly, no morbidly obese people have asked - only overweight people who need to lose 20 or 30 pounds. Surgery is not for them, but healthy lifestyle is what they need to focus on, so that is what I share. Some have appeared genuinely interested, but a couple of days later I see them eating cupcakes and junk, so it seems there are more curiosity seekers than those who are really ready to make changes.

    I use Ensure Max on ice. It doesn't taste great but if I drink 2 per day I get all my protein. As I'm only 30 days out I can't eat my protein at 1/3 cup of food. Ice seems to make it taste better. I've also used vegetarian protein and that seems to be better. It is hard to get 60g of protein a day. Unfortunately I don't know of any protein pill.

    Threw it away

    I bought a bar at work which is generally my emotional eating crutch. It was a mindful choice as I looked the labels of every single one - even though none where good! - and then picked the one with the most Protein and least carbs. I walked back to my desk, I took a bite, then realized WTF! I don't need this! So I spit out my bite and threw the rest of the candy in the trash! Yay me!! Surgery Aug 2018 HW 288 SW 250 CW 152 (essentially at goal now)

    I FREAKIN LOVE this post!!! Wooot!!!! We don't need no stankin' candy protein bars!!!! Go rip into 2 hb eggs and for 140cals you get 12-14g eggs.

    I tend to be honest with other obese people. As far as normal weight or skinny people, unless I'm pretty close to them (in which case, they knew about the surgery from the get-go), I just give them the lifestyle answer ("I'm on a low carb diet, exercise a lot, and am working with a dietitian"). All true - I just omit the surgery part.

    I will be 2 yrs out VSG this coming October. I’m down from 311 to 141 past my goal if 150. I’m obsessed with not gaining weight back. Still weighing myself daily and to the point that I will force myself to vomit if I think I’ve eaten something “bad”. Anyone relate?

    If you like your sweets like I do, you've got to try this recipe I made yesterday. It rocked my world! 2 scoops of chocolate protein powder 10 packets of splenda 1/4 cup of smooth peanut butter 1/4 cup of margarine You melt the peanut butter and margarine in a small saucepan just enough to soften it, then you mix it with the dry ingredients, press the mixture into a square pan and chill it in the refrigerator for an hour, then cut into squares. I made my first batch last night and wow oh wow was it good! What a treat for this sweet tooth and so filling. Nutritional info: 9 servings - 60 calories per serving, 6 g protein per serving, 2.5 g fat per serving, 4 g carbs per serving, 2 g sugar per serving
