    The other side.

Well, I'm back! The surgery was Wednesday, but they made me stay until today (Friday)... not because I wasn't doing well, but because it is a requirement of the surgeon. I was actually impressing all the nurses with how well I was recovering. I was up and walking within a couple hours, absolutely determined to progress. AND the gas pains were surprising! It's really unfortunate that there isn't really anything they can do to help with the gas pains except encourage walking, but the drugs did a great job with the incision pain. It was very boring at the hospital - I thought I had loaded my mp3 player with audiobooks, but of course that wasn't working. There was TV, but there was nothing interesting on it. I pretty much sat around staring at nothing for hours, ugh. Eventually, I remembered to text my people to let them know I was alright, and I was able to get some sleeping medication to knock me out. Everyone at the hospital was so nice and incredibly helpful, I felt like I was being taken great care of. The surgeon said that my liver was HUGE, and that, without weight loss, I'd have cirrhosis within 5 years... yikes! It is a good thing I was able to have the surgery - just another reason that I NEEDED to do something drastic. I'm getting a little nervous about hydration - 64 oz seems like a lot of liquid now that I can only take in a tiny bit of water at a time. So far, I haven't been able to get down much liquid at all, it feels a little uncomfortable and gets all gurgly, but I will keep trying. Well, anyways, I'm back and well!

    Constantly Tired @ 2 Weeks

It really is pretty normal. Your body has been through trauma. your intake has changed. Anesthesia takes a toll. so many factors. Just press on but follow your body's cues. When you really start to bounce back you will be amazed how invigorated you feel. There are just so many confusing phases along the way that are just temporary!

    What can I eat?

When I was on full liquids, lentil soup was my life saver, such good flavor after all the clear liquid stuff

    Taking Multiple Pills Post Surgery

Doing fine but one came through unchanged, since several are the same size I will forever wonder which it was. An no, I did not keep it around long enough for an in-depth interview, it just went bye bye down the River of No Return!✋✋💩

    Taking Multiple Pills Post Surgery

Right after surgery, I was a little afraid to take pills. So for about a month or so, I did everything I could to avoid. I did the vitamin patches, tried to get chewable or gummy anything else I had to take. I even crushed things or opened capsules and put the powder on pudding/yogurt to swallow down. By the time I was on regular food again, I was taking normal size pills. At first, I took them 1 at a time, but now...I just put them in my mouth and swallow them down. I usually try to take them with food or within 15-20 minutes of eating. I find that if I take them on an empty stomach, I regret it: I taste the pills, I burp up medicine burps, get heartburn, or even get nauseated. The largest pill I take is a gel-cap that's 3/4 inch long. The most I take at one time is 5. That's 2 reg size capsules + 2 small gel caps + an iron pill. Right now, I'm still doing gummy MVI's, but when those are gone, I think I'm going back to my normal size multivitamin.
