Hi all. Had my one week check up today. Down ten pounds, hydrated, doing well pain wise and tolerating liquids plus ice pops cottage cheese and was advised I can now try egg whites and veges. Feels like a victory. One week ago I was on these boards crying and ready to back out of the surgery-terrified. So glad I listened to so many of you and stuck with it. My life is changing for the better already. I wish the same for all of you.

How long does it take to get a surgery date on medicade been reading it takes 6mos of doctors visits before insurance will accept your paperwork and give surgery date is this true

Not specifically surgery related, but I have insomnia and sleep apnea... a major 1 / 2 punch. I've tried every single sleep aid on the market, both RX and OTC. I've found that Marinol works very well for inducing sleep. My nightly meds are one 10mg Melatonin quick dissolve, 1 10mg Marinol and 1 OTC "sleep aid" (Diphenhydramine) and that combo works quite well at getting me to sleep. Hopefully that helps you some!

In my surgeon's program everyone has to have 6 months supervised nutrition appointments, keep a food and exercise journal, apnea evaluation, cardiac clearance, psych eval, blood tests, EDG, etc before a date for surgery is set - it takes 6-7 months for all of that. Each surgeon is different, each state's medicaid program is also different. Medicaid in Illinois does not cover nutrition appointments and that $385 must be paid out of pocket up front - then the rest is covered - a good deal considering the bill is $61,000 total.

its now been 4.5 years since I was sleeved. my high weight was 323 lbs. my goal weight was low 180's. I did reach goal weight but over the years I realized that my desired goal weight was too low for me. now for the last 2 years ive steadily maintained a weight in the mid 190's and that appears to be where im supposed to be and im happy with that weight. today 10/1/17 I weight 195 lbs. I exercise 3-4 times a week and my choice of exercise is running. I will also be running the 2018 boston marathon and im so excited about being able to run this historic race! im running it for the jimmy v foundation for cancer research and ive committed to raising $6000 which is no easy task. if any of you have ever been affected by this terrible illness feel free to click the link after this post and make a 100% tax deductible donation to the jimmy v foundation for cancer research. every dollar donated goes to research. you will be supporting my run and a cause that affects everyone as everyone knows someone that has been affected by cancer. as far as my eating, I still have to be very mindful of what I put in my mouth. I haven't been on this forum in forever so thought I'd make a post. :-) I will be 9 months post op in 3 days after being sleeved on 11/21/16. I started the WLS process on April 11, 2016 after basically being overweight my entire life. At my highest weight I was 398 pounds wearing a size 28W pant and 4X top. I lost 100 pounds over a few years and would always regain and lose down to around 300 after that. In Feb 2016 my PCP told me my blood work showed that I was just points away from being diabetic (runs in my family) and that unfortunately my BP meds were no longer working even though they were now at the highest dose I could go. She said if things didn't change drastically and quickly I may not see my 40th birthday. (My family has a history of heart issues and death before 40). I had already completed a full year supervised diet and workout program and had lost and regained the same 20 lbs. My body was just happy between 280 and 300. She suggested WLS and I had my first consult a few months later. At the consult I weighed in at 298.6 pounds and was wearing a size 24W pant and 3X top. After my 7 months waiting period due to insurance requirements I was sleeved on November 21, 2017. This morning I weighed in at 175 pounds and I am in a size 12 pant and can wear both a women's L top or a Juniors XL. I am off my BP meds, my blood work is amazing and I just feel so much better. I turned 33 this year and have 4 children and feel better now than I did in my 20's pre kids lol. Anyways here are some before/after pics.
