Change. That's it. Just, Change. Get comfortable with that word, because it's the most important thing required to make WLS work. You. Must. Change.

We will offer our best suggestions to help, and if they don't help, they will help you clarify to yourself what needs to happen. Cannot stress this enough -- Stay. On. This. Forum.

    Before Surgery Concerns

When I was sent for my endoscopy I had to go for pre op testing at the hospital a week before. They did an EKG, blood work, checked weight, BP and maybe a few other things. I have to do the same next Thursday for WLS surgery. After that is done I have to get a medical clearance from my PCP because of my comorbidities. Maybe because you are healthy you don't need it? Good luck though!!! And tell G-Ma to chill and stop freaking you out. This surgery is safer than crossing the street.

I’m so ready to feel better!

One thing I love about MFP is it gives you a great way to track your progress. I love looking at my pics to see my face change.

And that also is one,of my core reasons. You get sick and tired of being sick and tired. Bloated, achy, swollen, stiff, tight, add painful every joint, sadness that pervades, flat out ready to give up. Yep pretty well covers it, CreekImp is correct, it isn't a cure-all but still it's better than where you are now!😪❤😝

Talk to your therapist about the dangers of having an "all or nothing" mindest going into this surgery. It's not going to be all miracles and progress. You're going to hit walls. You're going to be challenged. Persistence, patience and more patience....will be required of you a lot. It's hard. And it's not just not eating. There's a lot of stuff in your head that plays in. Work with your therapist on coping strategies for when things get tough. This would be a great time to have that conversation. Also, talk about your expectations and what is realistic to expect.

So I was sleeved on 06/07/18 and this recovery has been hell. I expected it to be difficult but I didn’t anticipate frequent nausea and vomiting. I didn’t expect it to sometimes be uncomfortable when I drink water or eat soup. I feel like I’ve tried everything. I’ve tried cold drinks, room temperature drinks, hot drinks. Sugar free popsicles and sugar free jello. Nothing is working for me. I feel like a lot of things get stuck between my throat and chest and doesn’t make it to my stomach often. I have an appointment with a Gastroenterologist next week but I’d like to know if anyone has felt this horrible during recovery and when they started to feel better. My boyfriend’s father had his surgery the day before mine and he hasn’t had any issues whatsoever. At this point, I’m regretting my decision.
