Is there any way to take the off topic forums off of the main page? I mean... when I click "new posts" most of what comes up for me lately is Rant & Raves and not actual lapband support kind of posts. I hope this makes sense. I know I have read several posts from new members and old alike who feel frusterated (sp?) by the amount of off topic threads they have to sift through to get to what they need. I look forward to hearing your responses! Thanks.

Can anyone explain to me why some pictures show and others don't? When I go to the Before and Afters thread and the Picture Page, only some of the pics show. They will say: Before surgery pic Current pic however there are no pictures. No attachement, no link, nothing. Others show up just fine. Do I have a setting that needs to be changed? And why does it just happen on some pics and not all of them? Any suggestions?

Wow... I just have to tell you something. But first I have to say that I don't really know where to post this. I don't know if I should be posting this or if I should write an email to someone. I have to tell you what a great forum this is. This forum is soooooo much better than the other large forum out there I just don't have words to express my thoughts. I can come here, admit I had surgery in Mexico and I am not slam dunked by the nasty people of the world. I am not told how stupid I am, I am an idiot, I should know better, blah blah blah. I happen to like my surgeon and I would have surgery again in Mexico ANY 'ol day! I don't have other members here cha…

Well im sure all of you are interested in knowing how to get your pictures posted on the Message board. Well this is a very simple process, and with my help, you'll be posting pictures like a mad man or woman . Here we go.. Step One: Getting an Image First and Formost, you need to have an image to put up. Once you have this image, you need to have it hosted. Step Two:Hosting an Image You can do this by either 2 ways.. Having your very own web server (which costs money) Or you can do what i do and use one of the very man Free Image hosting services that people provide.. One of these is www.PhotoBucket.com . This is one of the simplest and IMO (In My Opinion) the bes…

I'm not very swift on the computer. I know how to open my email and reply to them but that's the extent of my technical wizardry. So I've been banded since 3-7-06 and this is my first attempt to "post". It has taken this long to figure out how/ where to type text! I'm having lots of vomiting and my abdomen is very, very tender and I want to discuss this on this site...... Do I do a "thread" if so how do I create a thread? Is there a difference between posting something and a thread? I need a detailed, ELEMENTARY, explanation to use this site. Can anyone help me out? please?? don't take for granted I know anything... cause, well I don't. many thanks -
-
Sorry - I feel kind of stupid but ... Within a post, how do you copy the text? When I highlight the text > right click > there's no option for CUT or COPY. I don't see an icon in the toolbar for this either. I wanted to cut and paste a few recipes I found in the food FORUM to add to my personal cookbook I have saved on my PC. Thanks

I have been going back and forth with this surgery for almost a year. I have been reading alot on this site and it is very helpful. I was wondering if after a while if you always feel the band or if you ever just feel normal again? Can you tell you have a band at all times? Can you feel the port?

Hello! Not sure if this is the proper thread to make this post. But i will attempt! I notice a lot in the picture thread.. before and after or when posting any pictures in general that people have a problem resizing the pictures. I am not sure if this website has been posted here before or if everyone already knows about it, but it's a great free fun site to use to resize your pics, add words (text) to them, add borders, change the colors of them, etc. h**p://www.myimager.com - - ((replace the **'s with tt )) Here is a basic step-by-step i wrote on resizing a picture, It's wicked easy too! ================================================== >> go …

Hi. I'm a nurse and a published author. I was banded 3 weeks ago after a thorough search of the info. available about banding, including several medical articles. :typing: In the course of mentoring others, I've written several brief (1-2 pages) articles about various aspects of banding. These articles include general information, experiences of myself and other members, and practical tips. So far, I've generated these topics: preop shopping, preop preparation, and pain control. I plan to do the surgery itself, and postop recovery. I think these articles would be really helpful, not just to newbies but to members approaching surgery dates. I'd like to place them in t…

Just wondering if there would be a chance of adding a section for men to discuss male realted issues and pose male realted questions about the band? Just a thought. Thanks, Andrew

I appreicate the hard work of the mods, etc. to keep the board up and running. This is an incredibly useful and supportive place. I also know change is essential to survival. However, in my opinion, the new Top10 lists present too much information on the homepage. It's too overwhelming a visual to take in and be useful at first glance. I liked having the top 5 recent posts and the newest joiners. But to see the top 10 posters and the top 10 thread starters is too much information. People come here to read the threads. With the stats at the top, it makes it appear that this place is stats driven instead of information driven. It also stretches my screen. …

Hi, Computer noodle-head here. I have met several wonderful ppl on this site and have been trying to figure out how to use the "buddy" list. When I go to the User control panel and click on the buddy/ignore icon. A window pops up with six spaces and a message at the time which reads: "To remove a user from either the Buddy or Ignore Lists, un-tick the box next to their name and click the 'Save List' button. To add a user to either list, enter their name in the empty boxes for that list and click 'Save List'." There are 2 spaces for buddy list.....2 spaces for ignore list. And 2 spaces for journal buddy list. The problem is.........the only one on my scree…

Where are our moderators? There used to be several on here at various times throughout the day. Now, it seems we go hours at a time without seeing one. Just wondering because there is a very inappropriate post with obscene nude photos that has now been posted for several hours that should have been removed by now. Do we need more mods?

:help: Is it just me or have others not been able to access these boards occassionally? Until an hour ago I could see the main page and could send PMs. If I want to read anything I get a technical error page. This happened to me last week too. I really value this site and if my computer's the culprit I'd like to get help on how to fix it!! Thanks,

Just a suggestion, but isn't it time we remove this announcement? All of the "problem children" have been banned and many of the other people have moved on. There are presently a lot of new people joining the board and I kind of think this reflects negatively upon us here.

I've tried posting pics on my journal and threads - its not working like it did before. Is this a glitch?? I'm going crazy here!

... to please get the (*&^%$#) space out of the top of my signature? I've edited it out a zillion times, but it still shows up. I'm SO frustrated. It's like it thinks my old Ticker is still up there, but I've long since deleted it when it got out of date. Now I'm stuck with the space and I've done all I know to do. Suggestions?

Hi, I'm new to these forums. Recently I participated in a discussion on colon cleansing in the LapBand Support Forum (July 21 -- I think -- 2:07 PM). Some members were posting incorrect information made by colon-cleansing sellers to get people to buy their products. I wanted to counter those claims with scientific facts. I did not mean to flame anyone. Did I? (See posts 15, 18-21, 24-30) My posts engendered some heated responses, in which people posted I had jumped into the middle of a discussion (isn't that OK?), had an ax to grind, was an alarmist, etc. One post implied I was insisting I was correct, which is true -- our colons aren't lined with tar, Elvis didn't die…

I was banded on April 7, 2006. Had my first fill mid May--nothing --no restirction. Had my 2nd fill in mid June and boy could I tell a difference!! My problem is now I have trouble keeping anything down if it is not soup, liquids, Wendy's chili or stuff that's crunchy (crackers. toast, etc). I believe that I have an overfill (2.5 in a 10 band) but I am reluctant to have any removed for fear that I will go back to no restriction at all. I have lost 31lbs to date but feel it should be more. I don't want to damge anything by having a "too full band". Anyone else with this problem??

This topic is showing up frequently enough that I suggest it become a forum: Over 50 (either age and/or BMI). Ideas for stickies or FAQs: preop checklist (I've integrated 3 of these lists myself and seen at least 2 more since then); complications -- In the complications section, could we post the following sticky? Or maybe put it in the FAQs? We get many, many questions in the forums about complications. (By the way, what's the distinction between a sticky and an FAQ?) Also, there's a fair amount of confusion in the forums about what's a complication and what isn't. Published complication rates vary depending on the institution and on how the surgeon defines complic…

Seems we have had a lot of useless spam lately. I don't mean people pushing their surgeons, or office assistants coming on posing as band patients. I mean the useless spam found in this thread: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=21091 Seems to be this is clearly not good for the board and should be deleted. Is that possible? Amy

I am happyt to say I will be officially banded on Tuesday so a little more than 24 hours togo. Sitting and talking with my wonderful boyfriend as we often do he asked how does one maintain their weight once they hit goal? I thought this to be a good question, and I feel kind of dumb asking this seeing as I thought I knew pretty much anything there was to the Lap Band. Can anyone answer this for me? Any and all help surrounding this would be greatful. Thanks so much! Oh I forgot, I'm new to this board so.....HELLO EVERYONE!:biggrin1:

How can I enter my weight loss and goals and other text to appear at the bottom of messages? Thanks!

The number of "stickied" threads was getting out of hand, so we have decided on a new policy to govern what gets stuck. To wit: ---------------------------------- Sticky Policy: Only threads about banding that are of truly perennial and general interest will be made sticky. Popular threads with a lot of action will always be near the top of their forums anyway, so we have decided to take a less-is-more approach to sticking threads from here on out. ---------------------------------- Just FYI. :biggrin1:
