So I know that there was a thread about compression shirt and many guys were giving options. I have tried numerous ones, Under Armor etc, and although they are okay at keeping the flapping defalted gut in place they are just okay. I ordered some of these The Concealer Body Compression T-shirt They blow everything else out of the Water. They are so tight and supportive I love them. My back feels awesome, I can run without clapping and they are not too hot to wear. They breath really well. They were shipped to me in Canada in less than 3 days. Andrew

I am five months out from my banding and have had 3 fills for a total of 5.7 cc in a 10 cc band. This last fill was only .5 cc and I am miserable. Eating is painful and alot of PBing. My dilemma is this....I work 12 hour shifts switching from 7a-7p to 7p-7a once a month. I got my last fill right at the beginning of night shift. I struggled for the first 2-2.5 weeks and finally got where I could eat and thought I was through the worst of it. Well now I'm back to day shift and can't eat again. Has anyone else who works shifts noticed that they have a problem eating when their schedule is switched? I literally cannot get the food down and it is painful. I'm guess…

I just read a thread about the things we are/do miss after weight loss. It was good lots of chuckles that I can relate to, Airplane seats, Lawn chairs and the like, But as a guy it was little estrogen filled for me. This is an article I have read and reread over the past few years, it is from a weightlifting site and is a serious/tongue-in-cheek article about why it is GREAT to be BIG FAT AND BLOATED. "Why do you guys want to be big?" I was so excited about this one that I had to write a whole article in response to it. Listed below are some of the reasons why I feel we all like to get big. 27 Reasons to Be Big 1. I like having to think, "Is this really worth gett…

 I'm Approved! :huh2: I posted this in the Indroductions section but I thought I would post it again here. I found out earlier this afternoon, after calling my insurance company, that I am approved for surgery. I also called my doctor and I'm scheduled for August 25th.

But my body is starting to tell me what my eyes wont and that is its time to get healthy, so I have been approved and will be having my band installed the not this week but next. Hello all. I'm a 34 yo male in the Portland, OR area. Found out recently that my insurance will cover the lap band procedure if I meet the criteria. I clearly meet the criteria, have had the initial seminar required, filled out all of the necessary paperwork, met with my doctors and had them send over all the information. My file is currently under review by the Bariatric Surgical group at OHSU so I'm in the waiting game. I have scheduled my psych eval. for tomorrow to get that out of the way to expedite this process. Can anyone give me any advice on how long this may take? I have been told that my case will pretty much be a slam dunk through the insurance, as the …

Hi guys, just thought I would introduce myself. All my paperwork and tests are done. I'm now waiting to here back from my insurance. I have a BMI of 35.6 with hypertension. I shouldn't have any problems getting approved. My wife is also getting banded. We are hoping we can get the surgery before the end of summer. I'm enjoying reading all the previous threads. It's encouraging hearing your stories.

Hey everyone, Well I had my first PB the other night!! Yikes, ouch, hurts, and sucks! I had gone on a REALLY long motorcycle ride and was VERY hungry and very tired. So I went up to arbys, ordered a roast beef and cheddar and that was all. I proceeded to slowly eat it. About three bites in I got a VERY FULL and stabbing feeling in my chest, a great pressure! Every time I would try to swallow to push this food through it made it worse! I was hiccupping, spasming, and generally looking like a chicken. I pulled the car over to the side of the road and stopped. I am talking SERIOUS PAIN  at this point! I opened the door and puked :frown: in some poor guy’s yard, it jus…

Any of the guys on here had plastic surgery? What did you have done and how long after reaching your goal did you have it done? Trying to gauge when and what I should have done. I know I need it to get rid of the skin issues but the skin is in places that I don't ever see mentioned in the other plastic surgery sections if you know what I mean. Thanks

Has anyone had chiropractic adjustments after healing from lapband surgery? Any problems? I hope to be banded in the next few months and am under a chiropractor's care for a back problem.

How long after surgery did you start driving again? For how long or how far?

Been a month exactly since my surgery. I've lost a lot of weight (see below). All good so far, so I go in for first fill... I knew going in that the plan was for a nurse to do it, not the doctor. I wasn't too happy about that already, but whatever their procedure is, right? So I'm on the table, and she's feeling around for the port. She is feeling way higher than where I thought the port was, but I assume she knows better than me. Wrong! Stab, OUCH, hmmm... no port there. Oops, that's just scar tissue from one of the other incisions... Strike One! Oh, HERE'S the port... Hang on... Stab, OUCH, just... can't... get it... Nope, not in. Strike two... Gee, it seems dee…

:confused2: Hi everyone, I just need some direction, as my date gets closer Aug 15th I find myself more and more filled with self doubt & wondering if I should do this. Doubt meaning can I do this, will it work for me or am I just fooling myself again ect. I am self pay in Singapore and if I fail it's money gone when this money could possibly go towards my son's education. I have no problem hitting the gym and I will follow the diet given to me, drive is not my problem nowadays It just seems lately all I read are people not losing but having restriction I'm 6'2" 326 and I feel every extra pound any words of wisdom from you Veterans will help tremendously. Tha…

Hi Guys, I did the Clear Liquids for two days post op then full liquids (optifast) for total of two weeks. I was supposed to move on to puree diet today so I was looking forward to different taste. Made some egg salad and tuna salad and mashed potatoes. Had a decent day at work but realized when I got home that I didn't actually send the stuff through the blender . I chewed really well, but don't know if I royally screwed myself today:confused2:. Opinions needed... and Thanks in advance.

Hey Guys, I'm a few dyas post op, the first couple of days where really not fun but doing OK now, just really hungry. I can start full liquids tomorrow. I have a few questions to you guys, anyone a coffee drinker? How long until you had a good cup? I weened myself off of sweetening my coffee now I like to just drink it with milk or ff cream. what do you guys think? Also to you golfers, how long until you got back on the course?

I have just had the band done. I told nobody but the immediate family. I am curious as to whether or not I should tell my friends or let them figure it out over time. I told some of the neighbours that I had a small laproscopic abdominal procedure and they haven't asked for details. Funny that this is bothering me, I guess that means things are going well. First week liquid diet not an issue so far. Good luck to all us portly beggars.

Hey guys. I'm having surgery on September 3. BMI of 43.9. Have hypertension and sleep apnea. I'm really excited and a little nervous. Would welcome any advice that anyone has to offer. Thanks. Bryan

So it's been almost 6 weeks since my initial consultation, and therefore almost 4 weeks from my surgery. Yes, I pulled the trigger VERY fast, and self pay. I can be impulsive sometimes... :smile2: Weight is coming off nicely, although I can say with some certainty that it is 100% willpower at this point. I haven't felt anything that I would call a restriction. My plan is to go full bore, old style, self denial, willpower and some exercise until the fills get me to my sweet spot. Probably a dumb idea, but I am impatient... My first fill is this Thursday. I have a morbid fear of puking, so I will not be pushing for a big fill. Ease me into the green zone please. I never…

So, yesterday I bought 33" waist jeans. Every brand is different, but that's the smallest I've had yet. $9 each on sale  I was curious about the mannequin, so I checked out what size they had on it. 32 waist! Now, I'm not the same -shape- as Mr Plastic Abs there, but it's kinda cool to think I'm kinda close to that size. Interesting.

First picture is circa 1986. Probably weighed 210. Second picture is from a few months ago. Notice anything different! Pushing 3 bills at that point! Had a hair transplant 2 months ago, and Lap Band installed 2 weeks ago. I look forward to what I look like at the end of the year. For all of the money I spent, it better be a lot different!

Hello all, I had my surgery on June 18th. So I am 12 days out. For the first 6-7 days I felt some restriction. I could only eat a small amount. The most I ate was a can of cream of chicken soup for dinner, I did the slim fast morning and noon. I am starting to get REALLY hungry in between meals now. Here is my diet as of now: Morning: Carnation instant bfast - 375 calories, Two cups of 10 calorie jello Afternoon: Cambells soup individual serving cup 120 calories, microwavable cup. 1 10 calorie jello cup Dinner: Small saucer of taco meat, homemade, with two slices of pepper jack melted on top. total of 250 calories. Then I drink some light apple juice through out the …

Hey guys it's buxndux again. 5 weeks post op and down 20 lbs, most of which was lost in the first 15 days. Since going back to solid foods i have been surprised at what i can eat, pretty much anything! Did you gentelman notice a big differance after your first fill? And did the weight come of easier after that first fill?

From a man's point of view why did you choose the Lap Band over Gastric Bypass surgery? I am in the first stages and will attend seminar at Barix Clinic in Langhorne Pa. 04/23/08. I am leaning towards the Lap Band as I can't seem to wrap my head around the process of BYpass surgery. Are there other reasons for choosing Lap Band?

I came across some positive sayings that is helping me with my journey, in the process to get banded late july, see the doc and dietician july 2. "RULE YOUR MIND OR IT WILL RULE YOU" "ITS NOT WHETHER YOU GET KNOCKED DOWN, ITS WHETHER YOU GET UP"-vince lombardi "INSTEAD OF GIVING MYSELF REASON WHY I CANT, I GIVE MYSELF REASON I CAN" just some quotes that i tell myself that help get through the day, this world likes to drag you down, be overweight exct.. with all the food ads, fast food chains, doughnut shops, pizza ;all about the money and they dont care what happens to you. I am 6-3 355 and had enough how i feel, I am ready to make change and live healthy for myself…

Alright guys, I have been looking for a cool way to spin this whole lapband surgery to all my other male friends, mostly geeks BTW. Are we bandsters cyborgs?? I looked it up on google and here is what I got. A cyborg is: a human who has certain physiological processes aided or controlled by mechanical or electronic devices. Sounds like us? What do you think? I mean the Borg from Star Trek are considered cybernetic lifeforms, they are assisted by technology in order to maintain/aid/enhance their systems. I just thought I would throw this out there, any thoughts?

Hey guys me again, as I said earlier i am 1 week out from starting my life with the band. I have decided to try and keep my band a secret from most people, i'm not sure why thats just how i feal right now. I am very interested to hear from some of you on this subject to find out if you all felt the same way or not and was it difficult to keep it a secret from everyone, and did your fealings change later. It just seams that when you tell someone you had lap band surgery they ( i know i did ) automatically discredit any hard work on your part when it comes to weight loss. I can't wait to hear from some of you on this topic.

Hello all! I would like to introduce myself in the men’s room here if that is okay. I have been lurking for the past few months and the posts have been very informative! I went to my seminar on March 10th. Then had to see my PCP for full exam at the end of March. Went and saw the surgeon in April and he said I was a good candidate. Got all my paperwork submitted mid to late April and was approved at mid May. It really went fast thankfully! I did my preop this past Friday and I am scheduled for surgery next Wednesday! I am so excited! My doctor made my start a liquid diet, with a "few solids" i.e. 2 cups of veggies, and one small fruit or canned fruit for 7 days p…

july 18. just found out and i am ready. got one week to eat and the adventure begins.

Hey fellas, just came here yesterday wanted to bounce something off of you guys to see what everyone things. As I said, I have completed all my prerequisites and my stuff has/or is being submitted by the surgeon's office to my insurance. I am confident that I will be approved. Last night I started having thoughts about putting the surgery off until after my wedding on 11/1. Summer has always been a very busy time for me, work, 2nd work, and socially. Plus I know I have stag parties being thrown for me and then ultimately my wedding. What do you guys think? I still really want this surgery, I just think that I can make more out of it after this wedding and it would…

I am ready. Got my post-op supplies in hand. I've lost 6 pounds in the last two weeks in preparation for the surgery. Got things at work under control. Went and got a nice 90 minute massage last night. I am mentally and physically ready. See you on the other side!

Starting my Pre-Op liquid diet (Optifast) today. I'm dreading the next 12 days. How's everyone else?

I am scheduled to be banded on June 27 by Dr. Spivak here in Houston. It's a Friday. I've got a party to go to the next night. I know I won't be eating or drinking there, but will I at least be able to make a brief appearance? Also have some travel coming up. Mexico in late July, Europe in early August. I should feel OK then, right? FYI, I'm 6'3" and weigh 290. My goal weight is maybe 215? If I follow the rules pretty closely, what sort of weight loss might I expect over the first few months? Thanks, looking forward to a successful journey...

Hey guys - Here is the story. Tuesday I went in for my final pre-op appointments and to have the IVC filter placed. The filter was scheduled for 8 in the morning, so we were there by 7. Waiting around and was finally taken back to the radiology OR. They gave me "happy gas" but I was awake and was able to watch on the monitor. After about 20 minutes of prep work and placing the wire they decided my IVC was too large to have a filter. I guess it messures at 33-34 mil. Stroy of my life, too big. Anyway the suregons decided that since I had lost about 30lbs on my pre-op diet I was no longer in the over 50 BMI, so that was one less risk factor. Surgery was a go for…

I was banded May 28th. I started on the mushy foods today. Yuck  Baby food is awful. I wish I could just buy a can of something off the shelve that would work. I been searching this forum but I don't have time to cook and work long hours. Any suggestions out there?

Hello everyone - my name's oren. Been lurking around here for a while, figured i'd introduce myself. I am 26 years old, currently weigh ~375lbs (6'1") and having my lapband surgery on June 19th. I can't believe how soon it is. Doing it at Cedars Sinai in LA, with Dr Ted Khalili, who came highly recommended, and they seem to have a really good post opt support program. I think I am ready. I fear that if I think about it too much I'll back out, so i've done all my reading and I think I am prepared, but just want to get it done and worry about everything after. Probably not the best way to go about it, but I AM ready to make changes in my life. I am scared sh*tless of …
