today i had my 2nd fill. I have lost a total if 32 lbs. GGGOOOOO Me . Hopefully this fill will make the wight loss a little bit easier. I just hate that every time i go in for a fill it seem to be a holiday right after..... no fun! I will be in soft food for 4th of july.
Boy am I nervous. I got on the scale and was very disappointed this morning. It all started out so well and then boom....the last few days have been depressing :-(!!! I have been on task and did what the Dr. told me to do but expected a bigger loss on this pre op diet. Well, I'm going to say a prayer for me and my Dr. that all goes well! Wish me luck and I know I will be back to update soon.
I am using Lap Band.com website for several things. I watched the EMMI videoes and they were very helpful. And now that I am filled I am enrolled in the TLC Lindora web clinic which is 10 weeks. So now that I am on solids, my first three days is protein days...100 grams and stay 50-100 grams of carbs. I am going to follow it, but carbs...they are every where!
The only thing about this is it says to eat 6 times a day, and I know as bandsters we are only suppose to eat 3 times, so I am confused. BUT since this IS what Lap Band company recommends, it must be good.
:wub:I was wondering after you loss your weight and you exerise everyday do you still have to have tummy tuck and ect. Has anyone lost and looks good with out having it done
My gosh this water and jello, and atkins shakes are just making me want BREAD! lol Small price to pay for a long healthy lifestyle (keep repeating in head!)
Well, it will be two weeks Monday July 5th. the good news is that I have lost some weight, Ive been able to do 96%of what I am supposed to do eating and drinking wise, I lived through the surgery with no real adverse effects such as heart failure, etc. I guess I watched too many A & E" the mom who weighed a ton." The not so good is I keep a sickly sweet taste in my mouth all the time. Back in the day pre surgery, I would have eaten a pickle or an olive or many pcikles and olives!!! I brush my teeth a lot, and watch for signs of thrush. I cant sleep much past 2 am, I dont know if it is excitement over the prospects ahead or my body has become dependent on Loratab liquid to rest. The bathroom issue has also been a down side issue. will post weight loss at 2 week mark.
:scared0:
I forgot to measure Wednesday night. That's not like me to forget a checkpoint.
Drum roll, please...
I lost 13 inches total this month! I measure each upper arm and wrist, neck, bust, waist, belly, hips, and each thigh and calf (13 spots in total). That is the 2nd most yet!! I lost 3.5 inches from my waist and 3.75 inches from my belly just this month. Other big losers were my hips (1.5") and my right thigh (??!!?) (1.25").
My biggest loser thusfar...I have lost 9.5 inches from my waist since mid-January. Whoa! Total inches lost from the beginning...53.25". Wow.
Just in the last week or so, I moved to my Lane Bryant size 1 jeans since the 2's were getting a little baggy. I'm not joking when I say that these are not going to make it very long. I have only 3 pairs of jeans that currently fit and no other pants. I think I will absolutely have to go shopping for real in 30-60 days. YAY!!
I told you all about the fabulous book I'm reading...The Amazing Adventures of Diet Girl. This chick is AWESOME!! I have some more "me" quotes for you:
Quote #1: "All this cold hard data is strangely comforting. If I don't like my weigh-in result, I can manipulate the data and spit out a statistic that will make me feel better."
Quote #2: "This whole love-hate relationship with my body is exhausting. How do you tame that negative voice? How do you learn to like yourself? I'd settle for mere tolerance, just enough to make me believe I'm worth all this effort. But I can't run away this time, I'll go back to the class next week. I'll keep on going and I'll get better at it. These days, I'm not the kind of girl who gives up.
Quote #3: "Some days I'm positive and proud to have come this far. But some days my confidence and resolve feel flimsier than those string bikinis, ready to come undone at the slightest hint of a breeze.
Did I mention that I LOVE this book??
Sorry for the horn tootin', but I was just so darn happy! I'm off to Louisiana, so I will talk to you all next Wednesday!!
I am having my lap band on the 23 of July on August 3 (12 days post op) Some friends are coming to Chicago to see us, and they are concerned that I will not be able to walk and get around. I told them I would be fine in that regard but the eating part is different. I will not be eating like the rest of them however that is on me but I should still be able to do everything else. Can anyone tell me how realistic I am or I am not being? I know everyone is different but seriously I think this will be OK. Maybe not the weekend following the procedure but 12 days after....should be no problem. 4 1/2 months ago I had an emergency c-section and was out of bed the next day, cleaning the room...a little OCD I know. But that is major abdominal surgery this is not...
I am on day 10 of my liquid only pre-op diet and have only lost 4 lbs! How is that possible?? I am so starving! I am drinking 5-6 protein shakes a day, and 1-2 other liquids (broth, sf pudding). Why haven't I lost more? My surgery is set for July 15th, so I'm on this until then. I am worried that the doc. will postpone the surgery since I haven't lost that much. What's going on? Any ideas or suggestions are for sure welcome
I've been SO busy, that I haven't even been able to get on here. Looking for a new place to live while not in the city you're moving to is very difficult! And stressful!
And I'm only about 2 1/2 weeks post op and have stopped losing weight for now. I have heard that this happens, so I'm trying not to worry about it too much. But I keep going back and forth with one pound. Annoying. So I'm being very careful to watch what I'm eating and make good choices. Yesterday was not so good--I had some food from the Chinese take-away in the mall. It was SO tasty, but I'm sure not so healthy. At least I only ate the meat and tofu! (Odd combo, I know! Normally I would only get stuck eating tofu at my vegetarian friend's house!)
I'm trying to keep track of what I eat on dailyplate.com, but I have forgotten to track a couple days so far. I need to make that a priority in the evenings, I suppose. Anyway, that site is really not for Bandsters. I'm following my doctor/dietician's guidelines more than that site, but it is interesting to see how things work.
If I don't have as many calories as suggested, will I not lose weight? One would think if you had less than suggested you would lose even more. But maybe that's backwards thinking. Maybe your body needs the fuel from the calories to be able to burn more fat. Oh, I just don't know! I might have to ask my dietician about this.
Anyway, that's my update for the day: packing, plateauing, and a little panicking about finding a place to move to! It's a day full of P's for me.
Still not regretting this, just waiting for my first fill in about 2 1/2 weeks! Hopefully that helps a bit with the weightloss!
Blessings! xo
Yesterday I made lunch for myself and a couple co-workers. I might not have ate enough as I'm watching the fill and taking it easy. Ate around 11:30 and didn't eat again before going to the gym at 5.
Got on the elliptical and started kicking it up. I am off my bp medications and I can get my heart rate into target with a little effort, so I was working pretty hard. About 30 minutes into a 45 minute workout I got really hot, sweaty and a little dizzy. My stomach was GROWLING. Loud. I stopped, took several sips of water, and kept going.
I got off at 45 and I was downright dizzy. I sat in a chair along the wall for about 20 minutes before I was able to get up and walk to the car. Then I waited about an hour to meet a friend for dinner. Headache, dizzy, not good.
I need to pack more snacks and protein, and try to eat more at a single setting. I'm pretty sure I had a cup of food at lunch, but working out on an empty stomch didn't go well. Iget all my protein in for the day, so I am missing something somewhere.
I was still a little lightheaded this morning, and skipped the gym. Brought some fruit, tuna snacks and deli turkey to work. If I'm going to work out I am going to have to eat more than 1000 calories a day for sure.
If anybody has any suggestions, please let me know. I did not like this feeling.
And the kicker? After the fill Monday and fun Tuesday? I have what feels to be less restriction now (at 5.5ccs) than before the fill (at 4.0 ccs). And next fill can't be until 8/6. Ish.
went for fill #3 yesterday.... arrived at 10:15.....sat & sat & sat & sat...the "filler" was a "no show"... we were told that there was "an emergency" in the OR and she would be to us by 12:00....sooooo....we sat & sat & sat.... 1:00... still "no show"!!! so i had to leave ... hungry and w/o a fill!!! I managed to get in this morning w/another Doc. She gave me 2cc which brings me to a total of 10.75 in my band....i wont know how that feels until i start back on solids in about 3-4 wks!!! i have 3 days of clear liquids right now, which i've affectionately come to refer to as "LapBandHell"....
This is my first 4th of July, with my new look 93 pounds new. I have been active the whole month of June with all the warm weather we have had here in New York. For a while my weight has stop going down and was going up by a few pounds. So am back at my 93 pounds lose.
I got my fill yesterday and am back on track am tight enough again. Now feeling full once again, yeaa.. It's was my band, that was just to loose and I new it. There was know way I was going into the 4th of July with not having my band tight, I have worked to heard to lose this weight..
So now I can go into INDEPENDENCE DAY Feeling great and ready for the rest of my summer activies. This weekend we are going boating to see the fireworks on the Hudson River and what ever els comes up with my friends and family for this weekend. There is know stoping me now so look out New York City here I come!
So - having more energy can be dangerous! Got it into my head to clear some brush to increase the size of my landscape project. Out I go with my 1" lopers - chop, chop, chop(great stress reliever). I create a giant mound of limbs and brush before going off to help my husband with a building project. At the end of a long day I take a shower, feeling pretty good about my boundless energy. Two days later I'm covered in weeping poison ivy rashes - and I mean covered! That other weight loss positive - looser clothes - meant that as I worked, I was hitching up my pants, tucking my shirt in...so in addition to the sweaty ear I scratched(now big, itchy and red), I have a ring of rash around my waist, one boob with a similiar effect plus my arms and legs which look like I was in a battle for my life against some sort of clawed animal.
It is day 3 and I have already dropped 9 pounds. I'm still swollen, but things are getting much better.
Did anyone have swollen hands or arms from the needles? OMG, I have the smallest and worst veins in the world and my hands and arms are like a pin cushion, full of needle holes and supper fat. I've been putting bagged ice on them to get rid of the swelling but they are in so much pain I just can't stand it. Over the course of the 24 hours I was in the hospital I encountered about 12 different nurses who had trouble getting a vialble vein and they all poked me about 2 or 3 times.
Another question... All day, all I notice is my stomach constantly make these funny noises like gurgling, bubbling, rumbling and much more especially in the morning? That gets so annoying to me. But oh well, I guess that comes with the territory.
Learn how to cut the calories in your favorite drink.
Going to a Garden Party or a BBQ or just a Evening out.
Tropical cocktails are a rite of summer—delicious and refreshing. The problem is, the calories can push your diet over the edge. To counter this, I come up with some less-indulgent versions of classic seasonal favorites. Enjoy!
Margarita
It’s tempting to pick up a bottle of store-bought frozen margarita mix, but that’s where most of the 325 calories lie. Instead, just get tequila, limes for fresh-squeezed lime juice and some Triple Sec to make your own version. Calories saved: 153per 6 ounces.
Mojito
Sugar adds to the taste of this Cuban specialty, helping release the mint flavor. It also adds to the 145-calorie count. Instead, use a sugar substitute, like stevia, which contains virtually no calories, yet works to enhance the mint’s flavor during the muddling process. Calories saved: 80 per 6 ounces.
Cosmopolitan
This cranberry-flavored cocktail is pretty to look at, but full of empty calories. Lower the count of this 130-calorie drink by using diet cranberry juice. Then grab a bottle of Ty Ku Soju, an Asian spirit that is a great alternative to vodka and contains only 68 calories per 1.5 ounces. Calories saved: 65 per 4 ounces.
Strawberry Daiquiri
Don’t be fooled—just because it’s named after a fruit doesn’t mean this drink is healthy. Just like with margaritas, the pre-made mixes are packed with sugar, leaving you with a drink that can peak at 350 calories. Make your own with fresh strawberries (if they’re not sweet enough add more sweetness with a sugar substitute) and definitely skip the whipped cream topping. Calories saved 215 per 8 ounces.
Piña Colada
The queen of summer drinks, the piña colada can max out at over 650 calories! Substitute Coco López Cream of Coconut Lite for the coconut cream and coconut milk. Combine it with pineapple juice, sparkling water and a little rum, and you can satisfy both your sweet tooth and your diet. Calories saved: 475 per 8 ounces.
SO ENJOY THE SUMMER GUILT-FREE!

Well, had my lapband surgery yesterday morning. All went well and am home now. My surgeon was lovely, as were the people at the hospital where I stayed overnight. Couldn't be happier with the treatment I got =)
Too my usual long time to wake up from the anaesthetic, and slept a lot but today, I only have some minor discomfort in the left shoulder... referred pain they call it. Other than that, nothing too bad... a little discomfort under the lungs, but nothing from my wounds. Hope it stays that way! =)
Really, the worst part for me so far has been the optifast pre-op program and after the operation the horrid white leggings I had to wear to prevent blood clots, the barium swallow test this morning and the bumpy cab ride home! lol
Have even had some pumpkin soup and custard... and oj. So it's done.. new life begins. Chat soon... xox
I always like to follow-up with the status after putting entries in that are somewhat alarming. I survived my first STUCK! The doc said I probably will never eat pizza or bread again. I think he is right! Anyway, just want to say, I feel great today. I was on liquids for 24 hours and tonight I had mashed potatoes and meatloaf! It tasted so good. I was so ready for real food. The meatloaf is real soft. I actually bought that big honking thing at COSTCO, so it should last days..... I did find that I could eat quite a bit....more than I should...so tomorrow, back at it! Even if my band let's me overeat, I gotta not do it! You can't wait to be fully filled before practicing control. So there!
Got my AB ROLLER from Walmart ($20.00). I plan to use that, along with lifting the barbel weights with hands close together on the bar, so I can work my upper flabo arms. Back to walking again, now that my stomach is feeling better. Walked 1.6 miles. I walk so darn slow....takes me 30 minutes to walk 1.6 miles. Everyone is passing me up...I will get there. Still hauling a lot of weight around. It was also very warm today.
So, back at it! Come on lbs...melt off!
So, as I researched all of my options and thought things over, pros and cons and discussed my options also with doctors, ,family and within myself I have decided to go for it and get banded!! I am super excited. My preop was Friday June 25th so I am all set to go ahead and do my thing on July 15th! I'm super excited and very anxious, I cant wait!! My brothers wedding was this weekend and suprisingly I didn't absolutely hate the pictures of myself but didn't love them obviously! I have been eating great and exercising as much as I can for the past three weeks and have lost 28 pounds!!
I am now down to 316 from 344. I'm hoping to go in around 300 by the time surgery comes. So, tomorrow starts my LIQUID DIET aaagggghhh!!!!!
Bought my sugar free stuff and im ready to go tomorrow! Feel free to leave encouraging comments haha I think I will need them and they are always appreciated!! Will post pictures up here so you can see what a mess I am, but what a mess I wont be hopefully by next september for my WEDDING!!!!!!!!
Yesterday (Tuesday) was my surgery. After surgery, I had trouble swollowing and the doctor got some of the band fluid out - AUCH - long needle - but strangely it didnt hurt - all that much.
I made it thru the first night and at breakfast I had everything from the short liquid diet menu. Pain started shortly after that. This time it is worse than the pain before doctor got some of the fluid out of the band.
I came home today. Am hungry but any linquid i swollow hurts. Pain meds wear out in 1 hr.
My shoulders hurt. Why? Read the replies here and started putting warm blanket on my chest. Hope it works.
Am in bad pain. I am not new to pain. and this seems to be one of those that stand out in my memory. Will this get better tomorrow?
No more soup! I just couldn't take one more spoonful. As much as I trust my doctor and want to follow his instructions, I just had to take the situation into my own hands and last night my husband pureed tuna fish w/lite mayo and I ate about 3 or 4 oz. I felt so good afterwards - didn't run to the bathroom for a change. So, this morning I scrambled 2 eggs and cooked them in Smart Balance and kept that down. Didn't feel hungry until lunch time today. At which time I had chicken salad. I feel so good - not overly stuffed, but not sick to my stomach from the soup.
As of today, I have lost 10.2lbs. I am so excited. I am working out at the gym and loving that.
My visit to the surgeon is on Tues. I am looking forward to seeing him and hearing what he has to say.
To all of my friends here, keep up the good work and let's all get thinner together.
I'm literally almost crying reading this. Mostly because I'mon this pre-op diet and these last two days have been difficult... but also because I needed this! Thank you! Congrats! And a BIG congrats on quitting smoking a second time! It was hard enough to do it once... So - when I say BIG congrats... I mean BIIIIIG congrats! ❤️
