Advice...

I am having my lap band on the 23 of July on August 3 (12 days post op) Some friends are coming to Chicago to see us, and they are concerned that I will not be able to walk and get around. I told them I would be fine in that regard but the eating part is different. I will not be eating like the rest of them however that is on me but I should still be able to do everything else. Can anyone tell me how realistic I am or I am not being? I know everyone is different but seriously I think this will be OK. Maybe not the weekend following the procedure but 12 days after....should be no problem. 4 1/2 months ago I had an emergency c-section and was out of bed the next day, cleaning the room...a little OCD I know. But that is major abdominal surgery this is not...

You summed it up perfectly already. You will be fine..the eating part will be the only thing different. At two weeks out you will just be ending the mushies and beginning the solids stage. You will need to be very careful other than that you will be doing fine! I was banded on the Monday before thanksgiving and on Thursday I had 40 people at my house for Thanksgiving dinner without a problem..seriously no problems at all.

You will be fine. May be tender thats all. I was running and I mean RUNNING around Disney World 10 to 12 Days after my surgery I felt GREAT. You will be fine. Remember to practice slow eating and chewing and swallowing now so it becomes a way of life. That will help. Best wishes imaluckydog

I agree with the previous posts. Follow your doctor's instructions, but by then you'll be having a great time with your friends! I grew up in Chicago; love it there!

I am actually 12 days out today. I have been driving my kids from here to there all week! Shopping, walking, laundry, other house stuff. The only issue I have is itchy incisions. The port incision is a bit sore when I press on it but sleeping is 100% better!
