Almost through

Today, I'm feeling pretty good. I woke up kinda dreading today because my boyfriend wanted to go to Targets. For those who've read my blog, I've been having trouble with the stitching in my abdomen area so I wasn't particularly in the mood to go shopping. But I sucked it up 'cause I can't stand being a hermit anymore. I drank like 5 ibuprofen's and went on my my way. I'm happy to report that even though i felt a lil pain, it was no where near enough for me to want to stop shopping. Any time I felt any beginnings of real pain I took a sip of my tylenol with codeine. I was doing great and I walked ALOT. After the shopping, we went to Buffalo Wild Wings to eat. We decided to share some boneless chicken which comes in different flavored marinades depending on what we wanted. I took a piece, ate it and gave the rest back. My stomach started acting up and I wasn't about to keep messing it up. I think the grease from the chicken didn't agree with me. So, I stayed with my fruit punch and watched my boyfriend eat all the food. That's one thing, though. My boyfriend has one of those endless, black hole stomachs. He can eat just about anything and only gets full once he sees the plate is empty. A couple of months before I had my operation, I had realized I was turning into him. Stuffing my mouth with all this food. Sometimes it would take me an hour or more to eat my dinner (that's how slow I was). And I didn't seem to mind because we usually watch a movie while we eat so I never really noticed how long it took me to finish a meal. My boyfriend was always the one to point out that I ate like a snail. Oh, well. At that point I decided to limit my food intake, eat earlier, and just a lil bit healthier. But prior to this, bout 6 months ago, I stopped frying everything and began baking everything. The flavor is basically the same so why not? So.. getting back on topic, I sipped on my fruit punch until it was time to go. By this time, I was exhausted and so sleepy. Since I barely go out, my body's adjusted to not doing anything and resting all day. I am so tired of that. I've never had my big ole butt hurt so much from just sitting. The sad thing is that I really do feel pain from just sitting. Ain't that something? Well, when we finally got home, I was in a lil pain, more tired than anything though. But, I felt good and still do. I laid down for half an hour and found myself getting up to unpack the bags of stuff we had bought. I got the laundry and garbage sorted out. Not much, but it's a good start for me. Tomorrow, I'm going shopping for groceries. I'm hoping this good feeling is going to last. I think I'm finally getting past the point of pain to where I can begin enjoying having had this operation. And it's beginning to feel good. I put on one of my shirts today. And you know what? My boyfriend actually told me that it was too big on me. What a way to make a girl smile, right? I was happier than a pig in sh-t. No pun intended. :thumbup1:

September already?

I swear I meant to keep up with this but I guess Life has called.   So had an appt today with my Dr. Lost another 10lbs in the last month. This fill has been tough but I am going to suck it up! I know it will stretch a bit, I have good and bad days, mostly cause I eat too fast I guess. Crazy ups n downs. But hey now at 232...down from 286...I will deal with it!!   Last week I bought full price jeans from LB, been wearing my 22's and 20's just trying to put off buying something...$75 later.. UGH...today...they were too big! OMG!!   Last night, I switch laundry, My daughters jeans come out and I think hmmmmm...what the heck..on they went...ALL THE WAY--ZIPPED!! I had on 15/16 skinny jeans! WTH?? I came flying in and showed off to the other daughter!   AND TODAY... I PURCHASED my very own size 15 JUNIORS jeans! $10 at Ross. HOLY CRAP!! I haven't been this size since my Freshman year (maybe) in 80---something! wink wink.   I am in shock to tell you the truth, disbelief, dumbfounded. WOW. It is sureal. I am happy...HAPPY! I feel SO much better--physically that in itself is worth it. But to have the icing on the cake as it were is awesome! OMG   I hope each one of you have this feeling someday soon.

Chicken Parmesian Recipe

I wrote a little while ago that because my doctor does not want me to eat real bread crumbs my new nutritionist gave me a great idea for coating fish and chicken .   Well, we finally tried the coating on one of our favorite dishes, chicken parmesian, and it was great and very healthy. Here is what we did.   Ingredients: 1 small can cashews 1 small can roasted almonds 2 packages of skinless/boneless chicken (about 5 pieces per package) 2/3 cup All Whites egg substitute Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Parsley to taste Shredded Mozzarella Cheese Tomato Sauce (fresh made, jar or can) Grated parmesian cheese optional Baking pan - sprayed with Pam or any non-stick coating We emptied both cans of nuts into our food processor and pulverized them into a fine "bread crumb" texture. Pour some onto a large plate and repeat as necessary. In a separate bowl, mix the egg substitute, garlic and onion powder and parsley in a bowl. Rinse your chicken and then dredge the chicken through the egg mixture and into the nuts to coat both sides then place in prepared baking pan. I found I had to press the coating onto the chicken to have it stick better. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Cook the chicken for 30 minutes. I did not turn the chicken over during cooking. When the 30 minutes are up, put 1-2 tablespoon of sauce on each piece of chicken, depending on size of the piece, and top with some of the shredded mozzarella cheese. Put the chicken back into the oven and cook another 10 minutes allowing the cheese to melt. I served the chicken with steamed veggies and it was delicious. Please remember, all ovens cook at different temps, so make sure your chicken is cooked all the way through before you eat it. If you don't like cashews or roasted almonds, substitute any other type of nuts. I prefer the egg substitute to real eggs, but if you don't like the egg substitute, use 2 real eggs. I made 2 packages because I like to keep prepared food in the freezer so I can grab one on my way to work. I had one piece of chicken for dinner, my husband had 2 pieces. That left me enough for us to have a 2nd dinner and some lunches. We have not tried this topping on fish yet, but it was so good I am sure we will do so in the very near future. Enjoy!

6cc's in a 14cc Band

Today I received my second fill, I can't believe how easy and fast it went this time. Although I had to have it in Radiology he had no problems at all; infact he told me that he really didn't have to use it because he was able to feel the port without problems (see previous blog for explanation). I haven't lost much weight from my first fill but hopefully this will make a difference.

It's a start

OK so where do I start. I am always been a bigger girl. With my bone structure I will never be tinker bell but I know I can be way better then I am now. For the most part I have not let my weight stop me. Slow me down but not stop me, at least until the past few years. More then just my weight what is stopping me are my knees. I know the two go hand and hand. So it is time for some changes! Tried “Almost” ever diet out there lost some then gained it plus more back. I have dieted my way to where I am now. I need to change and I am hoping with the help of my little friend the lap band I will be able to make the life time changes I need. So here I am trying to lose the 5% of my weight needed to have the surgery. I have done my 1st appointments with everyone except the shrink and I have that appointment on Monday. I have done the sleep study and I think I am just great there. So what is holding me back…….. Darn it that 5%. Funny I need to loose weight in order to get the surgery to help me lose weight. I totally understand the what and why I am just struggling with the how……………..

Liquid Diet

So, after I had Panera this afternoon at lunch (instead of my normal soup, I got a sandwich...kind of as a goodbye to white breads!), I started to think about this liquid diet coming up next week . When I go to the store this weekend, I need to start picking up some items. My surgeon's office is mailing me a packet with pre op instructions, but I want to know from all of you what are the best things you had during this time to get you through it.   Was there a particular broth, sugar free jello, or something like that that you enjoyed having? Also, how did you get through this time without actual FOOD?! Did your body go into shock  ? I figure it'll be a mental game that I can play and just try to get through each day. Truly, the thought of no physical food is scary.   Okay, last question, what are some good sugar free treats that you enjoy either before or after the surgery?

It is true- " My doctor knows best"!

Today I had my second fill of two more cc in my band. I now have a total of 4ccs in a 10cc standard band. I was given a four day diet to follow by my doctor to allow my stomach to adjust to my new fill. Keep in mind- I had not eaten due to following the rules not to eat anything 2 hours before my fill. Well, if you could imagine I was starving and my stomach had been talking all mooring long. When I returned to work, I decided for lunch to eat outside of his 4 day diet plan and have about 3oz of cream soup and two bites of boil lemon pepper fish. Ooooooh my God my stomach started hurting like never before. :eek:I felt for a brief moment I would need some medical attention. It was very difficult for me to walk back to my office. I was praying for God to please forgive me for my hard headedness. It was like I had swallowed a rock. :scared2:I had never ever experienced that kind of pain with food before since my band, and I really never want to experience it again. I will follow that diet like he prescribed for the next four days. I am starting to feel a little better, but now it's just like I've over eaten terribly. I guess from that experience I have pretty good restriction with my new fill. From this point forward I will listen to my doctor!!!!! (DIET) Fill day: n/a breakfast/ no lunch/ cream soup dinner Friday: protein shake/ cream soup lunch/ regular soup dinner Saturday: protein shake/ regular soup lunch / soft food dinner Sunday: protein shake/ soft food lunch/ regular food dinner

Monster Milk

Mmmm. Best stuff I've had so far. :001_wub: Man, it's only been 4 days on the pre-op but I feel amazing already. I musta been eating worse than I thought. I'm full of energy and rarely hungry. I hated the second day...it was really tough. It's a crazy thing we do to ourselves. Just really glad I'm stopping it now before I need a wheelchair. :thumbup1:

Today: The Gripes and Complaints

I just need to vent today.   Today I am on my third day of the liquid diet, and I feel like SHIT! I haven't really had the hungar pains, a few here and there, but it isn't really that bad, definitely not unbearable. But what I have been having are a lot of pain in my stomach from the protein shakes, I think I may be a bit Whey Intolerant, not fully allergic or severely intolerant, but I think I might be slightly. SPOIL ALERT - THIS SECTION CONAINS TMI: It is giving me diarrhea, indigestion, heart burn, and I constantly feel like I need to throw up. Is this normal? I don't know, but it's extremely uncomfortable. Lastly about the shakes, they are giving me dragons breath. I cannot STAND the taste in my mouth, and it's not like the after taste that's bad, it's after I have drank it all down, and then this mist is coming back, and I feel like a dragon! OOH I hope it passes soon! :bored: On top of the terrible stomach pains, I have a migrane. I RARELY get migranes, maybe two a year, and of course, when I am only allowed to have tylenol, I get one. The tylenol helps for about 5 minutes, then the pain comes right back, and I am not going to take a tylenol every 5 minutes because that's dangerous. The lights at work are killing me also, I am ready to go get my sunglasses on! But this has been going on for two days and it is making me really cranky. So hopefully I can get this under control. Ice Mask...HERE I COME!:smile2: Well, that's my gripes, I know that this won't be forever, but I just needed to vent my complaints. Only several more weeks to go until I can have mushy foods! Yay! I am already looking forward to it!

It's Thursday...Friday tomorrow!

Hi everyone! I think I must've caught something while on vacation because I've felt puny the last couple of days. I took some Nyquil and went to bed at 8:30pm last night so I feel a little better today. Hopefully, I will feel a lot better by the afternoon because I work at Jazzercise tonight. If I'm going to be there I'm going to work out!!   I'm looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend. Tomorrow after 3pm, I have to call the US District Court to find out whether I will be called to Jury Duty on Monday. I have never been called before, so there is a part of me that would be interested to participate. The other part of me knows that I'm super busy during the next 2 weeks and jury duty could really mess me up! I will keep you posted.   Tomorrow is also my annual well woman exam. Super fun! At least I'm not old enough for mammograms yet, so I suppose it could be worse!   Have a great Thursday!

What a difference the Lap Band makes!

It is so hard for me to believe that this was me about three years ago. I actually did not know the extent of the danger I was in with the added weight on my body and my heart and other organs.   How could I have let myself go like this? What is it that made me overeat? I quess I ate to replace something I was not getting from my life.   I am so thankful to God for the LAP-BAND® experience, when I find an old photo like this one, I just cringe with an almost disbelief!

My Appetite is getting Less and Less!!!

:wink:Well it seems that my appetite is now getting less. I don't know what happened, maybe I am just use to eating less? But my head hunger was there for ALL the beginning months after my surgery and when I SAW foods that I use to eat or LOVED to cook like brownies, I did not think I could REFUSE to eat them.   NOW, it seems like a page has turned and I am NO longer so tempted to eat those things anymore because my appetite is so low.   Today, I was out on the road by myself, money in my pocket, it was lunch time and the restaurants were FULL, the food smelled good coming from the Restaurant, but I just passed them all by and went home for a lunch. Peanuts and Protien Shake! Then tonight it was chicken salad sandwich. I am totally full too! I did have a low cal single fudge pop for late night snack.   I think this is where I am starting to feel settled with the way I eat now, and not LEFT OUT, because I am not at an ALL YOU CAN EAT buffet with my friends. I went to the Pizza Hut the other day, 1/2 of a salad and one SMALL slice of pizza and I was TOO FULL and almost sick feeling. So I just have to eat at the house most of the time, so I relax and ENJOY my food. Even drinking water too fast makes me feel bad. I think SLOW and steady is the way for me now.   I like where I am now, it is soon to be 14 months on the 29th of Sept! 94 lbs off and I hope to shed the last 6 by 10-10-10, my daughters wedding date.   Have a great nite all!

more than half way there

I haven't posted in a while. I have lost a total of 55lbs. I am now 188 lbs. My goal is to be about 140. The last few months have been slow, but since my last fill about a week ago I can't seem to keep any solid food down. Although I can have smoothies and protein shakes and protein bars.:unsure:I am hesitant to go back to the doctor for an un-fill since I am losing again. Has anyone else been through this?

Are we there yet?

I just had my 9th or 10th fill. I have sort of lost track.   They say I have 10cc filled on a 14cc band.   Restriction has been barely noticeable the last few visits. The last two weeks, I actually wondered if they took fluid out, as I was eating everything I wanted and then some with no problems or fullness.   Today, I was told my pouch and restriction looked excellent on the x-ray, but they have said that everytime I visit.   I really think they are milking me for my money every two weeks. Each fill is $75, so it seems they never fill more than .5cc at a time. Keeps the cash coming in, when they could have filled 2cc-4cc each visit. When I first started going they gave me a few at 1cc.   Several of the last visits they have only given .25cc. It is taking forever! Is this normal?   I can still eat anything I want. My only limitations appear to be early in the morning when I am most tight. By lunch, it all goes down fine.   Hmmm....
