December Bandsters 2009

Recommended Posts

My doctor doesn't require a pre-op diet either. I do have to stop eating high Fiber foods on Saturday before my surgery on Friday, then on Thursday before its Clear Liquids all day. I would think that the pre-op diet would help get you used to the way you will have to eat after the band. Less than a month to go (freaking out now LOL)

Trust me - no one wants me to post my 'before' pictures until I have 'after' pictures that puts them to shame!

suzy - have you considered creating a blog? I know nothing about it (trust me) but I thought I'd give it a whirl and recently created one. It's alot like a journal... only public. Kind of scary.

So I took care of all my pre-op tests this am. I had an EKG, a chest xray and blood work done. *What I found interesting was that the radiologist had to do my chest xrays twice - he had to turn the film horizontally becuase I have such large lungs. When I had my gallbladder removed, the surgeon told me that my gallbladder was larger than he thought it would be too. So I was thinking... maybe ALL my internal organs, including my stomach, are oversized. It's just how the good Lord made me. That would explain A LOT. Anywaya, it sure makes the idea of getting a little pouch just that much better!

I'd planned my "last meal" of chipotle burrito bol tonight, but went in for my pre-op this morning and they moved my surgey date up. liquid diet starts today. lol. I love my luck.

Oh no! I'm sorry. It's okay... It isn't like you can NEVER have one again. You'll just eat a lot less of it when you do.

Do you guys have a list of things you want to eat before you start your liquid diet? I DO! lol Just one more time I really want to enjoy certain foods.

My husband actually laughed at me today as I was scarfing down some lasagna. He says that I'm celebrating each bite that I take like it's the last thing I'll ever eat!

My surgery is Dec 1st, and we're going to eat at Applebees one Saturday night...one last "normal" time.

I'm hoping I can have it again. Rice is my absolute favorite food in the world and it's on a quite a few bandsters' no-can-do list, so fingers crossed.

Anywho, I just sipped my chicken broth and pretended it was chipotle. Wasn't so bad.

I am on day 4 of my liquid diet, today was much easier then yesterday. The night before I started the diet hubby took me out for a last dinner and a couple of Mragaritas. Probably not a smart move to over eat then go on a steic diet the next day

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
