Diabetes & Lab Band

I'd really like to hear from other diabetics who've had the LBS.

How long have you had your Lap Band?

Were you taking insulin prior to the Lap Band and are you now?

If you aren't, how long did it take to see enough of a change in your readings that you were able to discontinue the insulin?

Its great to hear all your diabetes stories. I'm being banded the day after Thanksgiving and I am so looking forward to getting rid of my insulin, Metforman and Januvia. Not to mention losing a bunch of weight. All of your experiances give me great hope for the future!!!!

Oh and a side note, for those juice lovers out there. Of which I am one, but lust after it instead of drinking it because of the sugar, try Sobe Lifewater. The Fuji Apple Pear tastes like slightly watered down apple juice!

The Fuji apple is my favorite and I love it BECAUSE it isnt strong at all -- I really like the very lightness of it!

I love the Fugi Apple too!!!

I am Type 2 also and have been banded for 5 weeks now. The night before my surgery I gave myself my insulin shot...for the last time!!! Getting off of insulin was my ultimate goal and the main reason for being banded (plus losing weight is a major plus!) I see my regular doctor in two weeks and am hoping he will at least lower my Metformin and Junivia. So far I have lost about 32 pounds and hope that losing more will help me be normal again!
