  1. I had a similar experience without the elonggated esophogus. I was pb'ing in the middle of the night in my sleep, I woke up one time and vommited slime all over my bed, coughing and couldn't catch my breath, I've never been so scared and knew immediately that something was terribly wrong. I called the next day and got in to see the doctor. (Everytime we go in they make us drink the barium) and that's when he told me it slipped. Took all the Fluid out and I had to go back in 4 weeks with hope that it would return to the correct position - unfortunately it did not and I still do not have any fluid, that was 3 months ago. Now I'm waiting for surgery at the end of August to have it removed and either have a new one put in or have the sleeve (which I'm leaning towards). I have loved my band everyday for 5 years and don't know what when wrong or why it slipped. I hope you get to keep yours and that everything works out for you - Good Luck!!!
  2. Hello! I'm almost 5 years out with my band and have loved everyday that I've had it, until recently. I've lost 80 lbs and have been succssful (except for a few highs and lows of everyday life with the band). I've kept the weight off and I no longer have diabetes or high blood pressure. I learned back in May of this year that my band slipped and I had to have all the Fluid removed, hoping that it would move back into place, it was just my luck that it did not. The docter wants to remove it and replace it with a new band, which sounded great until I started reading about all the horror stories of the 2nd time around band. Now I'm torn and leaning towards getting the sleeve. I was wondering if I could get some of your opinions on what to do??? Before the fluid was removed I was holding steady at 145, so I'm worried the sleeve might be a bit drastic. Any help is appreciated!!

Band Prolapsed - should I do a second band?

For a few weeks i was throwing everything up and developed intense heartburn. A few times I would throw up in my sleep and wake up coughing and the final straw was I couldn't catch my breath. I knew something was wrong so I called the next day for an appointment and the doctor said the band was prolapsed. He took all the Fluid out and I went back in 4 weeks hoping it moved back into place - unfortunately it did not! So I had to make a decison to get another band or go with the sleeve. After quite a few sleepless nights I deciced to go with the sleeve instead. Now that it sank in, I'm really excited!!

    So WEAK! No Energy! Help

They don't come in chewables, but they are different sizes depending on the mg size. You can buy 200 mg, but they are huge horse pills! I stick with 100 mg and don't have a problem. It's hard to find the 150mg, so I take 2 of the 100mg a day. The only downside to taking these is that they are a bit pricey. I really hope this works for you! It might take a few days for you to notice a difference. Good luck and keep us posted!!

    So WEAK! No Energy! Help

It might be a little late because you're going back to work, but when I first had my surgery, one requirement from the doctor was to take daily 150mg of CoQ10 to keep the energy up. I was never tired and actually had energy and wanted to go walking and start exercising. I am still taking them and probably will forever! I would recommend taking it, they really work! Good luck!
  6. Popcorn was on our list of no-no's also in the beginning, now we are able to eat it but only 1/4 cup...really?? Who eats only a 1/4 cup of popcorn! Anyway, I've been eating it since the beginning and I've never had it get stuck. I don't put a whole handful in my mouth, I've learned to eat only one or two pieces at a time. Oh, also, I figured out at our show to get the "kiddie" sized popcorn, it's the perfect amount, otherwise if I get the bigger one, I might be tempted to eat the whole tub! It's weird, but I don't get full from popcorn, does that happen to anyone else?? Good luck and have fun!
  7. I have lost 76 pounds so far, and I'm still not comfortable with the way I look. I'm interested in plastic surgery because my boobs hang to my belly button, my belly button to my thighs, my thighs to my knees...I look like a wreck! Does anyone know if insurance covers surguries for bariatric patients? Also, if you have had the surgery, what is it like, I heard it's horribly painful. Just curious! Thanks guys!!

    closet cleaning!

Congrats to all of us! What a good feeling! My family and I went on a cruise a couple of weeks ago and I was going through packing all of my clothes before we left and thought I'd better try these on (thinking I could get by with what I already had) Absolutly nothing fit me! All of my shorts fell off my hips and onto the floor and all of my tops were too big! I had to go out and buy all new clothes. Expensive but I don't care...I bought size 11 in juniors!! I never thought it would be possible to be in that size again!

    After Fill Question...

Yep, I had my 4th fill and I hiccup all the time when my stomach says I'm done eating. If I take one more bite after that hiccup, I'm in the bathroom puking it up! So now I've learned after that hiccup to put down the fork because eating time is over!
  10. I've lost it in my face and butt. The stomach is going down but slowly. At lease I don't look like I'm 6 months pregnant anymore! Whew!
  11. I have Turbo Jam also that I bought way back when...along with Slim-in-6. I have been thinking about dusting them off and to start using them. Do you feel like you get a good workout from the Turbo Jam? I love watching the infomercials, they motivate me. Sounds dumb, but I feel like I don't get in a good workout unless I go to the gym. Maybe it's a mental thing, I don't know. I'm looking to boost what I'm already doing. Thank you everyone for all of your responses!
  12. I'm sure this has been discussed many times, but I feel like I'm in a rut with exercise and was wondering what many of you are doing? I always walk the treadmill and experiment with many levels, speed, and recently I started jogging/running on it. My question is, other than the treadmill, what do you guys do? I want to workout on the machines at the gym but don't know what I should be doing. Unfortunately I can't afford a personal trainer, so that's not an option for me. Any suggestions??? Thanks!

    Alcohol

My doctor's rule is to wait a year before drinking...yea, right! I have had beer without any problems, but I did only have one. I was afraid to have any more. I now drink Crystal Lite with vodka. It does affect me faster than before I was banded. My husband tells me I'm a cheap date now, I don't eat and can only handle a few drinks!

    Im worried!!!

Don't worry about it, you need a few fills before you start to feel the restriction. I've had 4 fills already and the other day I was eating a turkey burger and only ate 1/2 of it and couldn't think about eating another bite. It's hard in the beginning and I remember I was starving and feeling like the band wasn't working. It will! Just hang in there, you'll do great!:rolleyes2:
  15. Running a 5k has been a goal for me since I was banded in September '09. I recently started running on the treadmill and as much as I hate it...I love it! I totally want to train for this and 8 weeks will be over before you know it and we'll all be runners...good luck everyone!:rolleyes2:

    I got stuck...first time

I got stuck on a brussel sprout also and I sure know the pain! It's awful! That's probably the worst thing that has been stuck for me, brussel sprout and an artichoke...be careful of them also!! I'm terrified to eat brussel sprouts now -- but I love them!

    debbie pics 685

Thank you! That's so nice to hear! Probably not the best pic I had, but it's the one I can really see the difference in.
  18. I know exactly what you're talking about! I was a thin person who got fat after marriage and a couple of kids, but I was still the fun person with lots of friends and didn't realize what I had looked like...until now! The only reason why I had the band put in was because I was diabetic and my doctor recommened I get the band to help because I was going to be on insulin for the rest of my life. I don't know how I let myself get to that point, but somehow I managed. I'm so glad I made the decision to do this...now I feel like myself again and it feels so great!

    50 lbs!!!!!

Congrats to you! I was stuck in the 180's also and didn't lose a pound for 6 weeks, then all of a sudden I've lost 13 pounds in 2 weeks - crazy how this works! Keep up the good work! It's such a good feeling isn't it?????
