Looking for Support

Recommended Posts

Hi, my name is Jennifer and I just had my surgery on Sept 14, 2009. I'm looking for friends that have recently had the surgery so that we can travel this journey together. I have so many questions and am needing answers to just everyday questions and I am need of support from people who are going through this with me. I will also be here to help support you. So together we will take one day at a time...Good Luck!

Hi Jennifer,

My name is Sandy and I am brand new to this site! I too am thankful for it in hopes that I may find some additional support people here. I am not telling people of my decision to have this type of surgery. My husband, a friend who had the RNY procedure done in July and another close friend are the only people that know right now. I have not had the surgery yet however am only waiting on the insurance company. As far as I know all paperwork and follow-ups are complete. :tt2:

I'm hoping maybe you, other bandsters and this site will be my source of great support and new friendships. as the support groups that are in my area are all geared around the RNY procedure people!

Hi Jennifer and Sandy,

I am Tracy and was banded on 10-6-09. Very new here also. The site seems very friendly and informative. Hope we can keep updated on each others progress. I see my surgeon on Thursday.

Good Luck

Hello!

I was banded on 09/24 and am doing good so far. I haven't had any problems *cross my fingers*.

I'm losing at a steady pace and can see a difference..well I've had alot of people pointing out a difference to me. I only told a few people about my surgery-not even my honey of 5 years knows. He knows I had surgery to repair a hiatal hernia, but doesn't know about the band. He likes my "junk" so has always been against my weight loss. I'm a curvy girl and don't want to lose that, just some of the fat covering them up-LOL! :o

This is a learning process and we can all learn from each other and keep each other motivated. This site is SO helpful!

I have my first fill on the 22nd and am looking forward to getting some more restriction.

Here we go....

Let me know if any of you are going to chat at a set time. I will make sure I hit the chat room then. I was wondering if any of you were still suffering with the gas? I am talking about the burping kind and mine is still very painful. I don't seem to find much on it in the post's. Talk to you later.

Hi Jenniferm!

I am also a September bandster and interested in talking with others banded in this time period. I'm getting my first fill 11/5 (banded 9/22) and can't wait! I feel hungry alot and am having a difficult time with the getting all my daily fluids in. I lost 30 lbs. pre & post op but for the last 2 weeks have stayed at the same weight! It's so frustrating! How are you doing with this? Are you happy with your current results? Keep in touch!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
