Dizzy? Low Energy.. Not enough food? BP?

Recommended Posts

I'm about a month out from surgery, and I am terribly dizzy. I have a lot of symptoms like that of low blood pressure, but my doctor says mine is ok. I wonder if it is from the lack of food? Also, I am pretty active. Would not having the calories to burn possibly affect my energy and cause me to become dizzy? Maybe I am reading into this too much, but maybe someone else has a similar situation....Thanks in advance!

Contgrats. It took about 3 weeks before I got the surgery hit. I was plastered to the sofa for about 2 days just out of the blue. If you are following the guidelines your doc gave then you should be fine. It's probably just your body adjusting/reacting to the surgery.Take it easy, rest get the fluids and food in that you should. Good luck.

I also have the same problem. I had surgery in Jan. and had no problems until about a month ago. I thought it was because of calories and my activity level but it was not. I went to the doctor and they did some blood work. It turns out that my Vitamin D level was not even registerable in my blood and my B12 was really really low. I am now going daily for 4 weeks to have a B12 injection and I take 100,000 units of Vitamin D a week to get my levels all back up. The lack of those two nutirents will cause you to be lethargic and have some dizziness...among other issues. Make sure you are taking the correct Vitamins and that you see your doctor regularly to have those levels checked.

Dizziness can also be caused by things like low iron.It might be worth getting that checked out too.

I too have this problem. I called my surgeon and they said (since they're 2 hours away) to call my family doc and see if he'll do testing. So I'm calling him today. I'm also taking 100 mg of Coreg everyday and they're going to cut it back to 50mg after today. I'm thinking that could be part of it too. Also my BP has been 100/60 or lower all the time (that's with taking me off 2 bp pills). The last 2 evenings my heart rate has been 50. Thats scary to me!

A couple months after my band surgery, I started feeling very run down. I started taking liquid B12 in addition to my Multivitamin and Calcium, and I was back to normal in just a few days.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I will talk to my doctor and see if I can get some blood work done. Thank you again.

I'll add to that suggestion, In addition, I changed a medication and then eliminated it during my weight loss and the doctor said that could cause this. Now, my nuerologist has taken me off one medication and changed to another one and it also has a dizzying effect when I get up quickly. I'll hear about blood tests next week.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
