Good Morning all

I know i'm not going to be good today, it is DS's birthday, but I know I will drink Water. I have not had more than 8 oz a day all week, so that is a great start for me today and tomorrow. I'm counting the days to my fill

Today we are going to hang out - go to a bowling bday party from 3:30 - 5 and then back to my house for pizza cake and some drinks, and probably play birthday wii games. he is getting party 4 which i heard was amazing and dance 2, and 2 new remotes. and who knows what else.

It turns into a bunch of drunkin fools playing wii... lol

Next week is my grown up toy party, so that will be another fun night

well It has taken me 40 mins to type this much so i'm going to finish my coffee and i'll be back

We are going truck shopping. That is our big adventure, and it will be done around Rick having to work. The week we will be in Texas would have been his week in the field, so he traded it, and has worked this week out again. He is so tired. He is too old for this kind of working, all the hours, and it is physically demanding. I am tired just keeping the same hours he does, and I am not being physical during that time.

I have a seriously sore throat. It is sore up high, in the glands. I refluxed my mexican food all night, but it is not sore in that area. It was not a restful night. For Rick either, at 3 AM, we had the TV on talking, because we were both chewing Tums! The chiles were super hot last night, and it got us both.

I am going to have to go to KMart again. They were supposed to call about the other item we had coming, and I have never heard from them. I am shocked beyond belief this store made the cuts, it is the lamest store in the country. dirty and disorganized.

Well I need to get dressed so I can get the checks to the bank, and be ready whenever Rick gets a break to go look at trucks.

Our closest K-Mart is about 12 miles away. I miss the one that was only 2 miles away. They closed it about 6 years ago.

The guy who usually brings our firewood stopped by the other day. His transmission is out.So this morning Hubby and I drove back to his place and picked up a truck load of Oak. The three of us loaded it and then we came home and my younger sis helped us unload. It's all stacked and ready to go.

I did pretty good with the cast. I weebled a little at one point but I did my share of work.

Now it's off to go take my sponge bath and then get my hair washed in the kitchen sink. Good thing I have lots of practice doing it this way.

Other than that the rest of the weekend should be a quiet one. Church and Football.

Hi.

I'm supposed to go do my volunteer thing at the hospital where I got my lap band, tomorrow. There's a guy who plays there during the week, I guess he's retired. He's called me a couple of times before to ask me if I'd mind if he played on a Sunday because the patients "asked for him to play."

Today he called me and told me that he wanted to know if we could switch Sundays because Melissa Manchester's mom was back in the hospital--don't know if it's all right to mention names like that, sorry--and she "loved" the way he plays. Well, I played for her too, and she told me she would tell her daughter about me.

My first reaction was to just give in and let him do his thang, and then I thought, no, screw that! So I called him back and asked what time he planned to be at the hospital. He said his "normal" time is 12:00 or 12:30. I asked him if it would be OK if he came in at 1:00 and I played starting at 11:00. He said that was "Perfect." I couldn't resist adding that Melissa manchester's mother'd enjoyed my playing too. (I didn't really believe she was who she said she was--you know, not that she was lying exactly, but, that the mother of some famous person was there.)

It pushes buttons, ya know? Makes my already fragile self-esteem take a dive. But tonight I didn't let that happen. I told this guy that I know someone who's also in the hospital, and I'd like to play for him. (The truth is that the guy I know wouldn't be able to hear the music unless a nurse or friend or somebody brings him down to the lobby.) But I figure what the hell? For me to have given in would have felt like me accepting the fact that I suck as a musician. I decided not to do that

Ok, now I'll go back and read about everyone's day. Thanks for letting me vent :) :smile2: .

Debbie.

Good morning everyone!

lost a pound! :smile2: Hopefully i am on the move again. Could not remember the password for my ticker so I just made a new one.

How is everyone this great Sunday morning? I am here surfing the net, having coffee and watching macy take pictures of her stuffed animals. I think I might get her a cheap little camera for christmas. She would LOVE it. Sorry, I was thinking out loud, lol.

I have been looking and looking for a job and can not come up with anything. It is hard to find a job that pays good enough to be able to pay for after school care for macy. I would let dsd watch her but her school lets out after macys. ugh. I am hoping for a christmas miracle.

It is so hard to believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner. I am making another pumpkin gooey butter cake this year. Paula Deen should be ashamed of herself. Kat, I think I am gonna try one of the toffee ones too. :)

I just heard the dryer...lemme go fold the clothes before they wrinkle.

Have a good day friends!

Ruthy736....how are you this morning?

Hey y'all.

Ended up sick yesterday, finally made it to my bed, and stayed there til a short time ago. Not sure what the problem was, my stomach was not upset, but the other end was! I have managed to drink a glass of 7-Up through the night, and am up walking without falling over which is an improvement!

Y'all can have my KMart. We put a layaway in last summer, to hold the tent we wanted for Sturgis. They lost it. Then had a massive arguement with us about what they had that was comparable and what price to sell it to us for. THEN....they wanted to keep the $10.00 ---which is the non refundable layaway fees. I did not cancel, I did not pay late. I went to pick it up 6 days before my 2nd payment was even due! It was a horrid experience. Now they do this with the item I want. I hate this store.

Good Job Debbie, stick to your guns! If he retired, he RETIRED! Let him go in and play through the week, or Saturday---but leave you in peace. What a jerk in my opinion.

Well I am going back to bed.

Check in later.

Good Sunday Morning. I was hoping that the extra hour we got I would spend it sleeping. Well, that didn't happen.

Been a busy little bee this morning. Doing lots of little stuff that just needs to get done.

Last night my friend from High School called and we were on the phone for over 2 hours. We laughed so much. It was a lot of fun talking to her. Wish we lived closer.

Football day here. I love Sundays.

Deb, keep to your guns. You have every right to play. Hang in there.

Kat, hope you get to feeling better and that it's not what hubby and I had a few weeks ago. That was yucky.

Have a great day.

Congrats, Tracy! Best wishes on the job hunt. I'm sorta trying to find something that I can just do a few hours a morning a few days during the week b/c that is when DD is in preschool but that's kinda hard. I don't blame anyone for not wanting to hire me. They'd be jumping thru hoops for ME not the other way around! I'll probably just wait to look for something after she starts school next year.

Kat, sure hope you feel better soon! I don't like kmart either. We have ones like you do.

Suz, we didn't get to sleep in either. Dogs and kiddo do know what the time change means!

Not doing much this AM. Woke up kind of headachey so sent DH and DD off to church by themselves. Football on TV and some laundry, maybe, and that's about it for my agenda.

Storm coming in today. Yay!

Have a great Sunday y'all!

Happy Sunday!

I hope everybody is enjoying their weekend.

Tracy, woo-hoo!! You are on a roll. Congrats.

Debbie, I am so proud of you too. You go girl!

Kat, glad you are feeling better...

I worked all day yesterday and today we took Zach (and his girlfriend) to Olive Garden for his birthday. He intercepted his Ipod Touch on Friday by being here when the FedEx guy arrived so he seriously thought he was getting it today. Nope! Gonna wait til Christmas...lol!

I am tired and facing a mountain of laundry. Mike just got called back into work. Love it. NOT!

Have a good one!

Angela

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
