We all should think of one name and let's all vote for one!

I don't think it should be related to Thanksgiving please!!!! ;) be creative!

well then i guess my suggestion won't work... i was going to suggest "The Moist November Turkeys" (you know... because we won't be able to swallow dry Proteins that well after we are banded...lol)

yeah, folks, get used to it....bad humor is my speciality....

Hello everyone my name is Christina, I started my jouney this month. I have been thinking about getting banded fro awhile and decided to after my sister in law was about 5 months ago. I have my last two appointments the first week of November and two classes left. The clinic is saying that I will be banded at the end of November.

I can't believe I'm making this journey after so many years of being over weight. I'm scared that something is going to happen and I'm going to find out that I'm not heavy enough. I"m 220 and have been for the last 8 years. I have worked out watched what I eat and it never seems to change from the 220 range. I'm 5'5 3/4 inches tall.

I will know for sure when my surgery date is by November 18th. wish me luck.

Christina

Hi everyone...It was difficult to find the blog but I subscribed to the blog and I was able to click on a link directly to the page from my email notice. I am going to save the link this time.

I just wanted to tell you all that I am doing a pre-liquid diet because the surgeon called for a serious fasting liquid 10 days before the surgery. So I am doing liquid and soft food by pureeing vegetable into Soups. So far I've lost 15 lbs (in 4 days). I am soooo shocked. Yes I am miserable. I even had a few appointments so I am force to face people in the "state of hunger". I've also been walking for 30 mins daily. I suffer from PMS (which is one of the things I want to alleviate) and I was this week so this was truly the hardest diet I've ever done.

I wanted to share a few ***CRAZY*** thoughts I had in the past few days:

1. What's wrong with vegetables....why can't I just eat LOTS of veges , why liquid!

2. I was happy and look now I am starving.

3. No wonder skinny people are so miserable.

4. Singing " I can't livvvvvve, if living is living is without youuuuu!" I was singing to food.< /p>

5. Less dishes; lots of cups and spoons.

6. If i am currently consuming 1100 calories of liquids a day man how much did I eat before? I am guessing about 3,300. I like very rich foods..

7. Uhh! (I said it like 60 times in 1 day)

8. I NEED LIQUID recipe...if you blend a banana is it liquid? If you blend a steak??? I hate mushy food.

9. I LOVE butternut squash--making a Soup for Thanksgiving...I can't eat NO ONE CAN EAT!

So yeah, I'm crazy but doing good tonight. On to my REAL liquid diet...

Just started cleaning out my kitchen. Which is easy since I live alone. I didn't waste much since I haven't gone shopping for a while. Was guilty of living off take out. But, I cleaned out the fridge completely and my cupboard. Its a shame that I'm already tired and need to take a break. Exactly why I need to get this weight off. Gonna clean my apartment from top to bottom this weekend and get rid of clutter. Emotionally, I need this. Day 6 of the pre op diet and still going strong!

What a GREAT motivating idea:thumbup:, LOVE this idea! This especially is a great idea when on the pre-op diet, keep those hands busy so they aren't in the cookie jar

so to speak:tt2:

I will plan on doing the exact same thing Mello, and I think I will warn hubby now.

Thanks for the idea!

my mom usually does thanksgiving at her house --- so fortunately i am safe there. although i am usually responsible for the sides and specific family ethnic stuff. i should be starting mushie foods right around then so i guess in my mind it makes the idea bearable.

i already warned mom that i may take off and do disney world thanksgiving just to avoid eating at a dinner table...

I'm scheduled for November 2nd! That's just 2 days away!!! I know the feeling of being excited once you actually get the date, time goes by pretty quickly though. For me I had some last minute doctor appointments and clearences to get. I happy I'm getting it done before the holidays set in! It doesn't bother me not to be able to have Thanksgiving dinner and luckily for me my family doesn't mind. They are getting Boston Market's dinner which they love anyway. Good luck to you! I hope your date is soon.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
