I just had my surgery yesterday; now I have a 100? fever and I can't stay awake

Is anything wrong? Should I go to the DR or should I just brave it out? I spent the night at the hospital for monitoring 9standard for my DR). It varies between 99.9° and 100.5°.

Also, why can't i stay awake for more than 5-10 minutes at a time? The anesthesia?

Go to the hospital. And don't wait til tomorrow. You could have an infection or other serious complication. You need medical attention ASAP

I've read the the fever (as long as it's under 101° and goes away within 2 days) is nomal.

Call your DRs office right away and let them know you have a fever. It may be nothing but why take the chance.

I was very sleepy for a day or two after surgery until all the medication was out of my system. I think that's pretty normal.

Please go to the doctor. I had it too the day after surgery and turned out, I had pneumonia.

Please let us know how you are doing.

By all means, at least, call your doctor's office and inform them of the problem. You don't want to take even a ting little chance when a phone call might be enough. As for sleeping, everyone responds differently to anesthesia and your body may be having a little trouble shaking it off this time. Now stop reading and go make that call please!

You seriously need to contact your doctor. I did not have a fever after my surgery, although I was very sleepy. You could be having an allergic reaction to pain medication.

Well, I woke up this morning and I felt all better - temp is 98.6.

Not a problem!
