I have been on a regular diet as of week 3

I eat a regular diet now, banded 8/05/09. I do try to chew well, and eat meat first, then veg, then bread. the one thing that I don't do well is not eating and drinking at the same time. it's so hard. I guess they don't advise it because it will wash the food through and you won't feel full. I am just guessing. I have lost 12or 13lbs also post op. I can eat what ever Iwant but now I just eat like anyone else and I might have a quarter or half small plate. Which is good, because I used to eat enough for three any one elses. But I'm not loosing. I get filled 9/19/09.

I am curious about exercize and how to start. I tend to over do things and then burn out fast. I have knee issues but I think I might like to try something other than walking short distances or 10 min on the ex bike. Next week I should be ok to start for real. I was told to wait a full month and ease in to it.

I am also eating regular food with no restrictions. My 1st fill is 9/10 I had stop losing weight when I started eating regular food

If you are worried about the fill ... don't be. Surgeon couldn't find my port whole but still ... nothing to it.

What do you mean they could find it WHOLE

I was banded August 15th, still on mushies, I have been doing ok, I have minimal restriction where I feel full faster, but I am able to eat close to two cups of food at a time but I am having a hard time eating all of my meals, and keeping up with my busy schedule, school started and I am now back to work and it is a little hard. I have eaten chicken breast, and a couple of fries, but mostly mashed potatoes, and soft foods. but still way under the 1200 calories I should be eating a day.

hello again to all...good to hear all of the good news...i'm still trucking along..i am eating regular now, not recommended untill week 6, but having no trouble just chew, chew, chewing...i get filled up quick and have no trouble eating anything...i too have trouble not drinking when eating but i try reall hard!

my husband is my biggest supporter...i don't think i could have done it without him...i'm sure there will be ups and downs but he will be beside me the entire way!

have a great day!

I've been on the regular diet for a little while and am having no problems. Been eating pretty much anything. I've noticed I can eat a lot more than I'm probably supposed to, but I haven't been gaining any weight.

I have a protein shake for breakfast, a normal sized lunch and dinner, and then an after dinner snack.

I get my first fill on Friday, so maybe then I will notice a little restriction and won't be eating full meals.

I was banded the 31 of July, does that count?:blushing: I have lost 20# :tt1: I am 66 and healing slowly. But feel great. Go for my first fill 9/3..I have a "lump" in my throat constantly. Had a plug one time and never again.:sad:

i understand, but if you keep that pace, you won't lose. So try alittle harder. You need afill because your hungary all the time.

i want toast!!! is there a type of bread that is ok? maybe one that is made with oat flower or barley flower? i sure hope so, i love toast!

Just wanted to follow up and say I had my first fill today. It went great! No pain, and the dr. let me watch the fill process on x-ray. The needle didn't hurt thanks to the cold spray they used, but it felt strange once it was stuck in the port.

I am feeling really excited/confident right now and ready to start making some real progress and feeling some tightness from the band.

How is everyone else doing? Anyone struggling with the diet? I'm curious if anyone is a vegetarian and if so, can you recommend some high Protein meals?

Thanks and good luck everyone!! Keep us posted on your progress!

wow, that's great! it is so nice to hear some one with a positive fill experience...can't wait to get my fill, i'm sure it will help...i am pretty much able to eat anything i try...ok, maybe it is a little hard to eat dry food (toast) but everything else seems pretty easy to go down...to easy!

I was banded on 8/7, I'm a bit disappointed that I've only lost 6 lbs. Today was my first fill. Turns out I already had 5 cc of fluid already in my band. The nurse added 1.5 cc. Hopefully this will help me out.
