Weight Watchers Online: Support Thread

Recommended Posts

Hi, i was a weight watchers follower in the past, always loose weight but never keept it off, i just got lap banded on 08/11/2009, but still am in recovering mushy food, but as soon as i reach my 6th. Week, i would love to join with you guys, this is great, i have no time for the meetings, and if we can do it together it would be great.

I need some help thought, i forgot how to calculate how many points i am supposed to eat daily , i am actually 211 pounds and am not sure of my allowed daily points.

Please let me know, and i thank you for this great idea.

hi lilmissdiva

thanks for the tips...i am going to the store tonight to load up on the low point foods.

... i didnt know about the tuna...or the fruit cup points

i actually learned about the current promotion in WW of getting 1 mos free when you sign up for the month on this thread yesterday,...they give you e-tools for free. so i am doing both online and meetings.

in fact i have a few threads on WW online that i kept up with once-in-awhile since getting banded that i have reconnected with..i find these people to be supportive of my lapband. i guess i got lucky. my WW lecturer is also supportive of the band.

i totally agree with you that WW and the band compliment each other.

thanks for telling me your first day was tough. i am really going to keep trying and also i will keep checking in. this will make me accountable.

Oh that is fantastic that you have support on the other side too! I never even really tried, I guess it wouldn't hurt to open up and see the response. If they accept me, that would only solidify a more complete support group!

Good deal with the shopping! Please check in and let us know how you're doing!!

Hi Belkys! That would be fantastic for you to join in! You don't have to wait until your mushies are up, you can join in the conversation and in the meantime get some good ideas from everyone (they are all such great motivators) until you graduate to solid foods once again.

That is a fantastic idea if we could all get together and discuss. I was thinking maybe we could all log into the chat here at LBT and talk for about 30 mins or so. Anyone have any ideas of a set day of the week and which time? We could make it really brief in the beginning, and maybe give suggestions for a common weekly topic for the next meeting.

Let me know everyone if this sounds like a good idea to you..

I would love it :sneaky:

Only problem is we are all in different time zones and some have kids and ugh

Maybe we could use one of the boards and have a couple off different times :wink2:

I woke up this morning and thought about joining WW on line. Then I thought, I have the band, I should be able to lose more weight. I have only lost about 30 pounds in almost a year. Although happy with that, I want and need to lose more but have been stuck and not eating the right foods. I just happen to be on this website after many weeks and found this post. It must be fate. After I write this, I am going to sign up for WW on line. I am so happy to have this post and all of you for support. I have done WW at least 10 times and have never been succesful because I was always hungry. I know that this time will be different (post band). Sorry for the long post.....

If the person who is doing my backyard did not tell me this I would NEVER have believed it or posted it.

He said that his mom had the lapband and she is around 10 years older than me. He said that it took her over a year before the weight just fell off her. He said that he has an extremely slow metabolism as does his mom. But she did the WW thing and says she got her act together. IN OTHER WORDS... what ever she did...did not work.. till she went back to WW with her banding. :sneaky:

:sneaky:  :wink2: WW is :sneaky: :sneaky: :sneaky:

Hey, great idea, i am also open to the time, i am always on line at work (i am self employed), so it would be great for me the chat, and i am flexible about the time, i am always on line from 10:30 am until 6:00 pm, eastern standard time.

Please let me know when can we do this, and if i should go back to weight watchers meetings or if we will just count the points on our own and follow up on this site, we can also open a blog only for weight watchers banders (lol), and can document all of our daily/weekly/monthly/yearly goals and sucess.

I am not very good about computers, but if any one or any lapbandtalk moderator can help us out or give us come tips in how to be more creative and make a blog for "weight watchers lapbanders", it would be highly apreciated.

Best regards, and keep me informed.

B. Santos

hi everyone,

checking in...

well my first day on WW had upsides and "not-such-upsides".

the real upside for me is it was the first day i didnt have any sugar which is BIG for me.

downside...i used alot of points (38.5) but i was TOTALLY honest on my journal. i promised myself to look at this as honestly as i can.

what put me really over the edge...i had 1/2 cup of fried calamari .... 11points!!!!

i have to re-learn the points. i will make better choices when i do since i really wasnt yearning for calamari. i would have had a salad instead.

anyway i'm happy about the sugar elimination.

i am heading to the gym in 10 minutes. i feel less hungry today . (i guess 38 points would make you less hungry ha!)

have a great day everyone

josie

Well I did register yesterday and am so happy that I did. I have less points than I did the last time I tried WW (pre band) so that made me happy. I'm not worried about eating over my points like I used to be. I'm sure though that I will have those days. Hope you all have a great day. I think a chat would be great.

Weekly check-in...

Down another pound. Sort of surprised I lost this week at all because I haven't been doing as well tracking my foods. I have been cutting back still for sure and eating way lighter lunches so it does make sense. I will have to refocus on my points counting this week. Gotta get that 30 lbs off for the band!!! :)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
