Help!! I did not think about this before, but I´m starting my period today, so I will have it the day of my surgery OMG!. What is the protocol here? Tampax and underwear? sanitary towel and underwear? just Tampax? (how embarrassing!).. Has anyone been trough this predicament?

not to fret !! I got my period the day of surgery. Went in with a tampon. Not to sound gross, but they removed it when I was out cold. Woke up with a pad and those beautiful undies to keep them in place. You are so out of it the first 12 hours, I didnt even notice the nurses dealing with cleaning me up. the good news is you are in the hospital for only 24 hours, so really not a big deal.

Happened to me as well lol. I was told to wear a pad and those disposable undies they give you. It'll be fine. The doctor and his team are professionals - they're used to this kind of thing happening ..

I was allowed to wear and keep the tampon. Fresh one right before surgery. Then changed it myself when I got up to walk around. I was coming off of my period when I had surgery not going into it.

I started mine the morning of too! They gave me a pad with disposable undies and once I was in my room and awake they let me change into my own undies with a pad.
