Menstrual cycle the day of surgery??

Help!! I did not think about this before, but I´m starting my period today, so I will have it the day of my surgery OMG!:). What is the protocol here? Tampax and underwear? sanitary towel and underwear? just Tampax? (how embarrassing!).. Has anyone been trough this predicament?

not to fret !! I got my period the day of surgery. Went in with a tampon. Not to sound gross, but they removed it when I was out cold. Woke up with a pad and those beautiful undies to keep them in place. You are so out of it the first 12 hours, I didnt even notice the nurses dealing with cleaning me up. the good news is you are in the hospital for only 24 hours, so really not a big deal.

good luck

Happened to me as well lol. I was told to wear a pad and those disposable undies they give you. It'll be fine. The doctor and his team are professionals - they're used to this kind of thing happening ..

I was allowed to wear and keep the tampon. Fresh one right before surgery. Then changed it myself when I got up to walk around. I was coming off of my period when I had surgery not going into it.

I started mine the morning of too! They gave me a pad with disposable undies and once I was in my room and awake they let me change into my own undies with a pad.
