what happens if you get a stomach virus/bug/flu, etc. in terms of vomiting??? would violent vomiting cause the band to slip? I can only imagine how difficult it would be for your stomach contents to come back up though the narrow stoma???

i have a bit of a belly ache today and feeling mildly nauseated. i haven't had to vomit, but it got me thinking.... what if?

Ask your doc. Honestly if you're restricted you may need an unfill (depending on your surgeon) I have a prescription of phenergan on hand for normal nausea but I know that some bugs don't care what you have...things are coming UP. Violent heaving over several days isn't a good thing. Your doc can tell you if he wants to unfill you or thinks that's just wasteful.

This worries me too. I had a nasty bout of food poisoning this past winter from bad salmon. Blech! I was violently ill in the middle of the night. I understand that it would be imperative to get in for an unfill but I live 1 1/2 hours away from my surgeon and should something like this happen again I would be in panic mode for sure!

I asked my Dr. this question when both my kids had the flu and I was afraid I was going to get it. He told me to automatically go to liquids dont eat anything solid. Call them for an anti Nausea prescription and if that does not work to go in and have all the Fluid taken out of your band they will put it back in after you have recovered. Hope this helps

Hi,

Words of wisdom, be sure to get the suppositories not the pill. If you are sick the phenergen pill doesn't do much good. If any of my group starts vomiting then we are to call the baratrics coordinator-she gave us her cell phone #. I've got a wonderful baratrics team. I've only had to call once in 2 years which was in Jan. due to a bug I caught.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
