Hi everyone. I'm new here and am very excited about this whole process. I am scheduled for a seminar on sept. 25. I have read so much information that my head is starting to spin. I have been considering the lapband for about two years now. Acutally my neurologist recommended it to me. I have a chronic condition, idiopathic intercranial hypertension..that's a mouthful to say. Basically it means that my spinal Fluid pressures get abnormally high and cause severe headaches, vision problems, nausea and a host of other lovely issues. It's linked to being overweight, so me having a BMI of 42.5 is a major factor. I have been dealing with prediabetes as of this year.

This is something I really need to pursue for my health, I'm scared..but I see it as a journey that will lead to a healthier, stronger, overall better ME!

I look forward to sharing with everyone!

Welcome, Hope! Love that name :-) It IS a lot of info, there is much to learn and the more educated you are about the whole thing, the better you will do! I hope you will post whenever you have a question or concern, and just to stay motivated! Best of luck to you!

Welcome to the site Hope! There is a wealth of information on this board that will teach you what you need to know about the band. Of course, most of the people on here have the lap-band or are considering it. Just do lots of reading and ask as many questions as you need to. It's important to know as much about it as you can learn. Good luck on your journey, and feel free to ask anything.

Hi Hope,

I had my smeinar on 4/15/09 and was I was banded on 6/25/09 and it has been great. Easy recovery, only been really hungry 2 days since my surgery and I was able to work through it. 3 weeks post op and down 21 lbs. I'm thrilled!

I read the pre and post-op message boards from my seminar to the night before surgery and learned so much information. Read and ask questions and hopefully you will have a wonderfully journey!

Good luck

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
