HELP!!! Someone please reassure me!!!

July 8th here! ..heading to Mexico with Dr. Ortiz!! (self pay) I am not fat enough (the irony) for my insurance to cover me... I am at 31.4 BMI (I am only 5'1 and was horrified to see that I am technically 'obese')..esp when i was a SIZE 4 on my wedding day...

I am VERY excited:thumbup:, but still have SOOO many questions running through my head...esp after reading different threads on this site and others...

Some say they are so many weeks, even months post op and havent seen much success...that's tad scary to me!:(

I have done EVERYTHING to lose the weight that i regained and nothing ...thats when i decided to research Lapband...

I know it'll be HUGE adjustment..however the way I see it, if I am putting the $ into it...i better see some major results!! My husband has been SOOOO supportive. (he met me at 175lbs and I married him at 133lbs...regained back and now am at 166lbs and its killing me!) he doesnt care...he just wants me to be happy and I am far from happy. i cry alone, throw tantrums in my closet, dont feel like going out b/c "i have nothing to wear.."....well...you all know the feeling I am sure.

So after TONS of research and deciding...i AM gonna do this! It was a weight lifted off my shoulders to see ow supportive Erick (hubby) was. "i just want you to be happy", he says... and i know that getting to your goal weight will do that..":tt1:

but the LAST thing i want is for him to regret putting us further in debt b/c it didnt work.. PLEASE SOMEONE REASSURE ME THAT THIS IS GONNA WORK!! I know that you HAVE to follow the diet, and i am assuming that the people complaining are the ones eating icecream all day long and wondering why the scale isnt budging! LOL

I am not doing this for nothing! I know there will be sacrafice and there are foods that i will just have to give up (or they are gonna come back up! lol)

I have approx 50-55 pounds to lose? realistically, does anyone know fast or slow this process is? I mean, it HAS to be faster the dieting alone, right? and these refills.... why do i see people getting filled so often? Is it the more weight you drop, the more you have to fill?

July 8th cant come fast enough!! I am ready for my life to change FOREVER!!!:w00t:

Sorry for the novel....

People, people.....! Please move on! No matter how much each of you rant and rave, you are not going to get everyone to agree with you!! You are all starting to sound like lunatics! (although I must admit that I am reading this thread several times a day to see who pops up next with a counter attack). No one here is an EXPERT and each and every one of us has his or her opinion...and you know what they say about opinions....Everyone on here has made some valid points (except for the name calling which is totally immature). No one is totally right and no one is totally wrong. Some are arguing just for the sake of arguing. Why don't you all name a time and place, meet and face each other and duke it out until the last man or woman is standing and he or she will be the winner! I will sell the tickets for this event!:smile2::eek::lol::eek:

Why? I think this thread points out the head stuff we go through during weight loss. The skewed thinking, the messed up way we do things. Our own personal prejudices.

If you don't want to read, don't pop in several times a day, just click on by. That's the great thing about message boards. You read what you want and ignore the rest. If it doesn't serve your purposes, don't read it. But why stop others from posting?

Always have to have the last word, don't you?.....

Only when I am right. ;o)

Seriously, why do you want mods to run around closing threads? Why not just skip by them instead of opening it several times daily to get updates?

Instead of wagging that finger why not answer the question?

Seriously??? Because it makes me laugh! Oh, and I am SO sorry about that "last word" comment. guess I Was TOTALLY wrong about that one...And of course you are RIGHT and EVERYONE ELSE is wrong because you have been officially crowned "Queen of the Lapband World"! I bow to Thee as should all others on this board. But SERIOUSLY, when did I say anything about "mods closing this thread"? You no more have the right to tell me to skip this thread than I have the right to tell you not to no longer post here . And who's telling who not to "open it any more to get updates"? Puhleeeze, why not follow your own advice and move on? Oh, I forgot...because you're RIGHT! and I am definitely not "wagging" my finger at you.

This thread has become like a multiple car accident - you know you should keep driving, but you have to stop and look.

Although there may have been a lot of different information for thought, it has been repetitive and now doesn't seem to serve any purpose but to spew anger.

Agnes has made her decision. Whether or not you agree, let's wish her good luck on journey and move on.

Amen Sister!! That was what I was trying to convey in my original post, but of course got drawn in by the drama and took the bait!

just wondering... have many of you gotten really cranky and moody (esp the first 28 days) b.c you are only on liquids? I can see that being frustrating, however I am prepared!

I enjoyed a delicious cheed danish with my coffee yesterday, which i normally would never buy! LOL

Good luck to you as well! you are doing fabulous so far!!!!!!!!!

Each Dr. has different guidelines. Mine allows liquids and fruit baby food and FF yogurt during the first two weeks. Then mushies the third and mushed protein the 4th. My surgery was on Friday. Friday through Monday were very hard. I guess I'm starting to get used to it. It's only food.... It will be there forever.... The other day, I licked on some ketchup and pretended I was eating a corny dog. So, yes, it's hard. I guess there will be some days that are harder than others....

But there is this fear in me that if I eat something I'm not supposed to, I can loosen a stitch and that could lead to a slip. Oh no!! Don't want to have to pay out of pocket to have it fixed. The person that posted that almost everyone has to have the lapband fixed or replaced, has really bummed me out!! Ugh! I wish she hadn't said that . It's just constantly ringing in my head. I would just go to ER and have it removed with my insurance as an emergency operation. Can't shell out another 15K. Anyways, I'm off the topic. Are you having to do a pre op diet for two weeks? I was told to do 1 week since I didn't have that much to lose. But, I decided to go ahead and do two weeks like everyone else. It consisted of 2 protein shakes and two meals which consisted of protein, vegetables and 1 fruit.

I don't know how I even heard about the lapband anymore.... seems so long ago since I started reading about it. I wanted to wait until summer to have it done, since I'm a teacher. I would tell you, I would take at least a week off work. I know some people have it done on a Thursday and are back to work on Monday, but I would have felt awful having to go back so soon. Today is the first day that I feel more "good" than "bad". Not having to take as much pain med anymore....
