I'm up. 189. I've been in denial and didn't want to post it. On the plus side, I actually exercised today. Woo.

Erin Marie, don't worry, we all go up and down. It's becoming a weekly thing for me! I spoke to my doc about it, and he said that's the way everyone is. No one stays at the same weight (or loses weight) every day. The important thing is that we stay aware of our weight so it doesn't go too far up or down. What he said really made sense to me. I don't know why I always assumed that naturally thin people just stayed right at one weight. lol

So, you're in good company. Cheer up, 'cause we're here for you!!!:thumbup:

Finally made it out of the 160's. 159.6.

I haven't had a fill since before Christmas and I am sure I need one.

I had to save every minute of time for vacation, but I will have one when I return and can spare a few hours from work.

Have a good week everyone!

Congrats, Rebecca! It's fun when you break into a new "decade" isn't it?

No weight loss for me this week. Today is my one-year anniversary. Hard to believe it's been a year already! :) It went so fast. If you haven't noticed, we started a new thread for our bandiversaries. Please check it out.

I've lost about a pound this week. My weight has been teetering up and down a few pounds over the last couple weeks, but this pound puts me at a new low-- FINALLY!!!

I'm working out more than ever before-- just waiting for my body to catch up :) Feel like I should be losing more, but sometimes it seems like there's a delay. Anyone else have that happen??

The morning of my Tummy Tuck weighed 180. after getting home the dy after surgery I weighed 190, probably due to all the fluids they put in my iv. but slowely I have been losing it since getting home. Plus I have absolutly NO appitite at all. I eat each day by forcing a cheese stick a yogurt and a few mini rice cakes. Anyways, I just got on the scalee and I was 179. yay!!! Im hoping it will go down a lot more as my swelling goes down!! Hope everyone has a great week!

That's interesting. I thought it was in my head about the weight loss delay at first, but then I started tracking my weight/exercise better. . . I also notice I definitely lose when I have my monthly cycle!

Lisa, I've just starting noticing that happening to me right before my TOM. Very odd. Then during that week, my weight shoots up and I have to struggle to get it back down. It's frustrating. *sigh*

I haven't been on the computer much lately for various reasons, but where is everyone? :) I think I saw a tumbleweed.....

Yes, my weight definitely reacts to my cycle. It's strange!

For the past 2 weeks I've been working out 5 x week and the scale is starting to move again. However, I'm not sure how it's going to go-- trying to keep up all the exercise. I'm hoping this will just help me through my plateau, and then I can continue w/3 or 4 times per week.

My body is stubborn!

Up a bit after vacation. I'm not suprised. I'm with you Ann. Where is everyone?. I know I still need your support.

I haven't had a fill since just before Christmas so I was going to schedule one when I got home from vacation. Now I am not sure and need advice. I noticed the last month that I am having some trouble with food going down real slow and I have to wait to take another bite. The strange thing is I can eat way to much in the evening if I want to. I mean way, way to much. Yesterday morning I had my first experience with something coming back up. Boy, that is not fun at all.

Fill or not to fill? I am really unsure. I have been so trouble free, other than fills, I have not seen the Dr. They do want to see me before another fill. I guess that is a good idea.

What do you guys think about the band acting different after a year?

Somehow I have managed to lose 3 lbs. this week! I've made a couple of changes in the last two weeks: I've stopped eating late at night and I've amped up my exercise. I'm 1.5 from my doctor's goal and I'm 6.5 from my own goal (want to give myself a 5-lb buffer from my doc's goal).

Rebecca, I also have been having a switch in how my band is working in the last two months. I can eat way too much in the evenings also. It really slowed down any weight loss. (See note above.) I started having what I believe are esophageal spasms when I eat -- things start to cramp up in my esophagus as they go down, including when I'm drinking sometimes. If it is food, it will sorta sit there until the spasm stops, and then it will go down, but as it sits there, it causes temporary heartburn, which is no fun. So I've started drinking a little bit during my meal, which is probably not good.

But, I'm going to see my surgeon today and talk to him about it. He had mentioned at my last appt. that he likes to have all of his patients have an x-ray after one year. Perhaps he'll do that. My guess is that he will also take out a tiny bit from my band. I don't want much out, though, because I think this is a good spot for me! I'll let you know what he says/does.

And the rest of you, come out, come out wherever you are! :frown:

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
