I am set for surgery June 4 with Dr. Adam Smith or Dr. Craig Ferrara. Anyone have any experience with them?

My surgery is scheduled for Oct 8 09. I thought he was wonderful. He is a patient himself, and offers a total care program. He will be taking care of you for 2 years after the surgery! What a great way to build a relationship with your patients! Fabulous! I can't wait!

Well due to a sinus infection my surgery was postponed until October 27. I am feeling much better now. I have too, lol, I have a 20 month old!!! Dr. Smith is great. Never met Dr. Ferrara, but once again, I love their total care program. My first fill is the 16th.

Good Luck All.

What is Dr. Smith's pre op diet? I have my appointment January 12th and surgery January 27th, so I guess I will find out soon enough. I was just curious. I'm a planner.

Dr. Smith is now coming to Albuquerque to do lap-band surgery once a month. I have had my appointment and attended one of the support group meetings and everything I hear about him is GREAT! Esp the fact that he is a patient himself.

I also am going to be banded by Dr. Smith here in Albuquerque. He seems to be a nice and knowledgeable guy, who has also had the surgery a few years back. That is a big plus since he will know exactly what myself and others will be going through.

I have a March surgery date....wish me luck!

Good for you. I was hoping for the February date, but doesn't look like that will happen. What is the March surgery date, do you know?

Have you attended the support group meetings? They are pretty good.

Dr. Smith did my surgery Feb. 3rd. So far I would say I like him and his staff. I've recovered well from surgery and had 1 fill.. ..the next one is due next week. I can't wait. I've thought about going to a support group meeting but I keep forgetting about it. It would be nice to talk to other people going through this as well.

mimo - That is fantastic to hear that you had a great experience with Dr. Smith here in ABQ. I have my surgery scheduled for March 25th. So far I am very impressed with the program and staff that they have assembled here in ABQ.

I can't wait to get the surgery over with!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
