Anyone have the surgery not being 100 lbs overweight?

Recommended Posts

I was just curious to see if anyone has had the surgery while not being quite 100 lbs overweight? If so what can you tell me about it.

I was closer to being 80 pounds overweight when I started the 6 month pre-op diet. Before I started the 2 week pre-op liquid diet my BMI was 34.8 - just under the required 35 but my insurance approved me anyway.

I started out at 89 lbs overweight and my bmi was I think between 37-38 and I also was approved.

I'm not banded yet. I'm still trying to get to my pre surgery weight. So I'll be banded around 75 lbs overweight.....BMI 39

I had around 80 pounds to lose as well my BMI was somewhere around 38-39. My insurance covered my surgery because of high blood pressure and family history. For most insurances to cover under a BMI of 40 you need to have one or more health problems along with obesity. Hope this helps. Oh and even with them most require you pretty close to the 35 mark and 6 months of primary care physicians supervised attempt at weight loss .

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
