Hi,

I just read your food diary and was wondering how you're able to fit so much in the day. My meal "serving size" is a medicine dosing cup. How much do you eat at each serving and how often...thanks for helping because today is the first day (banded 5/14) that I'm really hungry.

I don't know, really, other than that everything I did consume was very spaced out throughout the day. So I think I pretty much took about an hour to drink every item on my list, except the Protein shot, which is in one of those little vial thingees, and all "meals" were hours apart. Even with all of that "food", I went to bed VERY hungry.

I've been keeping a food journal through the lapband.com site, and I have to say it's been an amazing tool. It breaks down the %'s of what I've had into Protein, carbs, fat so I can easily see at a glance where most of my calories are coming from. I was also able to look at it about 1:30pm today and realize I was *way* behind on what I needed to be eating/drinking. That definitely helped me make more protein-oriented choices for the rest of the day.

I really think that keeping a food diary will be a key for me. I tend to forget to eat, and that can definitely lead to trouble!

This is what I ate Yesterday: I am 2 weeks post opp.

Breakfast - 2 tart size egg quiche - 2 oz (I made a bunch up and keep them fridgerated)

lunch - 1 oz of baked Beans - 1 oz of canned ham sauted up.

dinner - 1/4 cup of stroganoff mushed and green Beans (made with canned turkey)

Had my 64 oz of Water with 8 oz of this Water with crystal light rasberry ice flavor.

I have some small plates and silverware and so I sit down and eat with my family every meal and present the food to me as a meal and then eat slow and put my fork down in between each bit. this makes it easier for me. And I make sure I keep my water or drink in another area thent he table so I am not tempted to drink it while I am eating. (still adjusting to this).

karianne, i did something similar! i bought some toddler size plates and bowls, so that i can get accustomed to the smaller serving sizes. it's been hard to make that transition, but i'm hoping by starting before the surgery, i can be more prepared when the time comes to do it for real! Not drinking with meals is going to be super tough, too. I've started drinking my Water at work from a shot glass. I just hope no one thinks I'm drinking on the job!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
