30 day freeze on weight loss

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else been stuck at a certain weight for 30 days with no moving on the scale? I was banded on Jan. 16, 09 and have lost 30lbs. but that's it! I have not lost anymore weight for over 4 weeks now. I am going in for another fill this Monday, that will make it 2cc. The surgeon is going VERY slow with the fills. I am just getting a little irritated with the slow weight loss. I do go to the YMCA, but haven't gone in over a week (putting in new flower beds, and yard work are ENOUGH for me at the end of the day)! My future daughter-in-law wants to get married in my backyard by the pond so I have been working my BUTT off digging and planting, but my weight won't budge!!!!!

Yes, I do drink my water.........

You probably do need another fill. You also need to look at how much you are you eating, what you are eating and are you hungry between meals?

That said, my doctor is pretty liberal when it comes to fills, I only have to wait a week to get another fill- I can get a fill whenever I know I need one. But even so, I have had a couple plateaus and one that lasted a month. I was eating and exercising but the scale did not move. BUT when I measured myself I realized I was getting smaller and my clothes were getting looser.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I get frustrated when the scale won't move too.

My advise is to really hold yourself accountable to everything you're putting in your mouth. Get your exercise in (even if that come in the form of yard work) and the results will come.

I am only averaging about 5 pounds per months weight loss and that includes the month I lost 0 pounds. Keep doing the right things and the results will come. If you're anything like me, everytime you step on the scale it should be down atleast a pound...it won't!!!

Good Luck!!

I would want to kick the sh&@ out of my scale! But you hardly have anything in your band right now...I would probably want to kick the sh%$ out of my doctor too. I kept calling my doc and going back in until I got my 3rd fill and restriction. I was seeing him almost every week  He loves me I am sure.

Right now its basically up to you...(I wish I would have known that I would have to rely on willpower for this portion of the program). Just keep doing everything right, watching what you eat, moving...and get your fills...it will happen.

I'm with Mak, if your doctor wants to be so conservative, then they would have to explain to me the advantage of that since you aren't losing. THEN I would firmly request more than 1cc...more like 3ccs, but even 2cc would be better than just 1cc. And if they stand pat on the ultra-conservative fill schedule, go back absolutely on the first day you can go back and get another.

Wintobethin - YES.....only my "stall" lasted about 90 days! I lost almost thirty pounds in the first 3 months, and then the scale bounced around 2-5 pounds for the next three months!

You need a fill. My doctor was very conservative with fills also. Everything I lost prior to my last fill was "dieting." I monitored my calories at around 1200 cals/day and still wasn't losing. It was incredibly frustrating.

With my last fill, I finally reached my sweet spot. I now consume around 800 cals/day and my weight has dropped 6 pounds in the last week! I get comfortably full on 1/2 cup of food and I don't get hungry between meals anymore. This is an amazing breakthrough....I have never experienced this feeling before in my life.

The one positive I can say about gradual fills is that it's given me several months to "practice" (eating slowly, chewing thoroughly, no drinking with meals.) Before I got good restriction, I'd sometimes forget these rules without consequences......now my band lets me know immediately!

Keep doing what you're doing, ask for another fill, and remember this is all about the process (but it's also ok to swear at your scale once in a while just to let it know who's boss!)

Here's my weight loss since surgery....you're not alone.

Thanks to all for your "HELP" in my freeze on weight loss. At least I know I am not alone in this battle! My first 30lbs were also from dieting NOT from the BAND!!! Come Monday morning at 8:00am I will diffently ask for a fill. Like I said he only puts in 1/2cc each visit, that is the way he does it and he won't change! I can't conplain as the band only cost me $15.00! Thank you Tricare!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
