How much did you pay in Mexico?

I am new here. I don't have the band yet. I am still checking into my options. I can't find a doctor near me to do the surgery. I live in UT. My BMI is 31. But I have been struggling with my weight for 10 years and nothing is working. It is like no matter how much I eat, I am not full. Just to maintain my current weight is a struggle, believe it or not. I think that mexico may be my only option to get the surgery, because of my low bmi. But I really think this surgery could work for me and help me reach my goals. I am considering Dr. Ortiz, but I am not sure. I have never been to Mexico. They said the surgery is $9,500. It sounds like Ortiz is a good doctor, but if I knew how much everyone else paid, I might feel better about spending the money. It is alot of $ for me. I am also nervous about the pain right after the surgery. What is it like right after? I have a little boy and couldn't stand much down time. Also, does anyone know a doctor in UT or surrounding states who will accept a MX banded patient for fills etc? Any comments, support, or suggestions would be appreciated.

As you know, I was banded by Ortiz after doing a lot of research on him & I was VERY happy with him. My incisions look like scratches now on my tummy and I'm only 8 days out!!! :D I paid $9500 and that included stay @ the hotel and all the med charges. Fortunately I live in So Cali about 1 hour north of MX so I didn't have to pay travel fees too. I definitely think he is worth the $! I just weighed myself and I've lost 15 lbs since last week!!! Whoo-hoo!!! :P

Hi:

I finally did it. My surgery is scheduled for Nov 4th. Unfortunally my insurance or medicare in Canada won't cover it. I had just finish paying off my credit and now I am deep againg with the surgery ($15.000 cnd).

For years I have struggeled with my weight and I thik is time for me to get some help.

I guess the count is on....I keep second guessing myself as if I made the right choice, lets hope I have.:)

I have read many great stories out there and I hope mine becomes one of those.

By the way how do you get the cute images that help you keep track of your weight, etc on your e-mail?:)

Thanks for the support!

I am going to Dr. Sanchez at the end of this month. I am paying $8,000 and transportation. There are several doctors in Mexico that get great reviews. Check it all out and choose what works best for you.
