Hi,

My BAND DATE IS 4/27 and today is the first day of my diet,I am scared!! Also nervous about pre-op appt. on 4/17,what all are they going to do??? I have to be there at 8 and she says not to expect to leave before noon. The only thing she named is an EKG. My surgery will be at Scott n White in Temple TX. I pray that I can do this.

well there is good news and bad news...the purpose of the pre-op diet is two fold. 1) the doctor needs you to shrink your fatty liver so he doesnt damage it when he moves it out of the way to get at your stomach to apply the band.

2) the second part is to see for yourself if you are able to follow orders(this part i see you have failed) but dont be alarmed. you can still get this under control.

The bad part about this is you wont know if you caused your surgery to be delayed until after you wake up. the doctor will put you out and go in there and may see that your liver is still too fatty and sew you back up and proceed to tell you that he was not able to do it. I hope this doesnt happen to you but it has happened.

I wish you good luck!!!

Relax and take it one day at a time...and keep a short timer's attitude. What you have to do for the pre-op will end in two weeks. You can put up with it for two weeks.

Pre-op visit. Sounds like you haven't had any medical screening so far. My doc required all medical clearances be complete before starting the pre-op diet and seeing him officially "pre-op", so I can't offer much here. But just call the office and ASK. Tell them you're just curious what they are going to do. You have a right to know, after all.

My date is 5-8, but my wife's is this friday. Because of an insurance issue, she is only going to be on the diet for 1 week, but to show my support for her and to make sure I am ready, I am starting the diet now. I want to prove to her and myself that I have the willpower to do it, because she is already having problems with the diet and is getting scared about the surgery.

Just remember, nothing worth having comes easy. The harder the proccess is, the more you will appreciate the result!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
