I just wanted to say hi, I am new to the forum. I am in the process of getting lap band surgery. I am just waiting for my surgeon to call me to set up my appointment for my surgery date! I've gone through everything else and am just waiting for that now!

Hi, I am new too and also from the D. (Royal Oak) I am looking into the Beaumont program. Can you tell me where you are having your surgery? I would really like to know more about surgery in the Detroit area, other doctors and hospitals. I have been to two seminars so far. Took my husband to one as well. I have met Dr. Krauss so far. But would like to meet the other Doc there before I make a decision. Good luck and any advise you have would be appreciated!

Hi there Linda. I am actually going through the Henry Ford Warren Campus bariatric center. I have to tell you, they have all been so amazing. My surgeon's name is Dr. Pesta. The other doctor there is Dr. Marshall. I have gone through the seminar, psych eval, 4 hour class, sleep studies, physical, stress test, etc. Everyone I have encountered has been so awesome. I hate hospitals and really don't like anything to do with them, but they have all really put me at ease. I've heard nothing but great things from people who have gone to them as well. Check them out if you are interested. Good luck with whatever route you take!

Thanks for the reply. I should look into their program as well as Beaumont's. I am still undecided as to what to do or to go through with it at all. I am chickening out so to speak. I will go on line today and see if they have a seminar I can go to. Please keep me posted as to how you are doing. You can also email me at lindanton@sbcglobal.net if you would rather. I would love to keep in touch. I live in Royal Oak, but am an east sider and used to live in Warren, and all my family lives on the east side. . . clinton township, etc.

GOOD LUCK to you!

Linda

Linda, I competely understand about chickening out. I was just like that at first! After the seminar I went to at Henry Ford, I really liked what I heard, but it took me a month or so to make the next step. At first though, I will tell you I was leaning more towards gastric bypass and have since decided on lap band. I think it's a better match for me, plus it's not as invasive. But that's something you don't have to decide at this very moment. In fact, they told me I didn't have to let them know my decision until the meeting with my surgeon. If you need anyone to talk to about it, please feel free to email me at carriemc78@hotmail.com. I'm just waiting for my surgeons call now so I can get my date! I'm really excited, but also really nervous. But I've heard such success stories, I think it's the right thing to do.

Thanks for the wishes! Good luck to you and as I said, feel free to email me!

Hello! I am also new to this site, and to this process. I am meeting with doctors and will soon set my surgery date. Also, I am from the Detrot area as well (scs), and I am going to be having my surgery at St. John Hospital Detroit on Moross. Dr. Hawasli will be doing it for me. Is there anything that I should know about before setting up my surgery?

Meredith

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
