Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Reaching out to oldies and bipolars

Hello out there,

I will be getting my lap band in June and could really use a buddy. My two greatest issues are my age and the fact that I am bipolar. I'm 61 and in pretty good health (except for being morbidly or is it severely obese--you know that last column on the chart...) One of my major concerns is the fact that I am bipolar and, of course, have used food to cheer myself up when I am down. I don't know what I will do instead. Also, to make matters worse, when I am strong enough to not eat myself silly, I find it so uplifting to have some tea. Caffeine has been my savior for years and years. Now I'm told it will be totally off-limits, so I am getting very scared. Is there anyone out there who thinks they can mentor me?

Dear Faye,

I hope I could. I take Effexor and have to take a Klonopin before I go to work. I have also been at goal since March 07. I am 50.

Do we sort of fit?

Edie,

We could be a good fit. How does this work? This cross posting seems very cumbersome. Is there a better way?

Ladies - I'm 43 and severely bipolar. I take cymbalta, lamictal, depakote and ambien to sleep. I've been hospitalized twice for it. Ijust had surgery on 3.31.09 (with the approval of my psychiatrist) so I'm not an oldie but need someone who understands bipolar, its relationship to food (a real strong one) and the challenge of managing multiple medications with restriction. I'd like to be a part of what ever develops here. Thanks.

Will this go to Edie? Will it post to everyone? I don't know what the Quote, Multi and Quick mean. Are there instrucitons I should be reading somewhere?
