  1. Hi Everybody, I had my lapband surgery on July 1. I'm hungry! They told me I wouldn't be hungry....any suggestions?
  2. What did you tell them? I think they are looking to disquailfy someone who seems so emotionally unstable that they say they will kill themself if the lap band doesn't work. I know I worried a lot about the pscyh profile when I was first trying to "in", but none of my fears have materialized. They know I am prone to depression and take meds for it. ( I don't recall if I used that loaded word "bipolar." People seem to get scared of that word.) I have had the impression that it is just an "i" to dot for the insurance. My psychiatrist had no problem recommending me for the band, though my psychologist seemed nervous about it. So get your letter from whoever is not making a super-big deal out of it.
  3. Will this go to Edie? Will it post to everyone? I don't know what the Quote, Multi and Quick mean. Are there instrucitons I should be reading somewhere?
  4. Edie, We could be a good fit. How does this work? This cross posting seems very cumbersome. Is there a better way? claudette
  5. Hello out there, I will be getting my lap band in June and could really use a buddy. My two greatest issues are my age and the fact that I am bipolar. I'm 61 and in pretty good health (except for being morbidly or is it severely obese--you know that last column on the chart...) One of my major concerns is the fact that I am bipolar and, of course, have used food to cheer myself up when I am down. I don't know what I will do instead. Also, to make matters worse, when I am strong enough to not eat myself silly, I find it so uplifting to have some tea. Caffeine has been my savior for years and years. Now I'm told it will be totally off-limits, so I am getting very scared. Is there anyone out there who thinks they can mentor me?
  6. I'm brand spanking new to this website and will be having my surgery in June. I am starting to get really worried about how the eating restrictions will effect my mood. I've been taking medication for 20 years and am stable right now, but one of my favorite, life-long low-mood cures is caffeine. I am told that caffeine will be totally off-limits. And then there is the fact that when I am depressed I eat. I'm getting scared about what I will do with my feelings once I am banded. Can any of you speak to this? How bad is it in terms of coping with mood swings, especially depression?
