Talk to me about protien sources after working out/breaking plateau

Now, I dont know if I should have posted this in the fitness forum but I will take my chances here. I am trying to bust through this small plateau and I am reading somethings about getting your protein right after a workout. I did this today and I felt great the rest of the day. Any thoughts on this?

My trainer recommends having a complex carb and protein prior to workout and solid protein afterwards. Examples she gives are 1/2 brown rice and egg whites prior and something like a Pure Protein Shake afterwords. I have noticed a difference when I do this. HTH and GL!
