You should call 911 if you are having trouble breathing!

hi there. I was banded on the 3ed. I can home last night. I had trouble breathing to it hurts my chest..ribs to breath deep And it's b/c of the gas they inflate your stomach with during surgery. So there's gas laying around in your abdomen and there's nothing you can do but try to burp and fart as much as possible use your breathing thing they gave you that you blow into. If they gave you one. That will help do it as much as possible even if it hurts keep doing it. B/c the next day it will be better. Im feeling so much better today then yesterday. Just keep taking deep breathes. Good luck girl. Were goign through the same thing! If you really feel like something is wrong and you can't get enough air. def go to the doctor or call 911.

Hello I was banded 3/4 today i am home in I am having trouble breathing? anyone help

HOw do you feel now i want to get this done hope u are feeeling better this week

I was banded on 2/25/09 and noticed that I was not taking deep breathes. When I did I had a slight amount of pain. I think I was breathing shallow for fear of pain. I was not given anything to breathe into. I would call my doctor immediately if I could not breathe or 911. Keep us updated on how you are doing.

Having difficulty breathing after surgery can be a symptom of a blood clot and that is life threatening. You need to call your surgeon ASAP to see what he says.

I second the matter!!!:cursing:

I was also banded on March 4th and have a pain in my chest (upper left) when I take a deep breath. It really SUCKS! I am taking 2 deep draws of breath through the breathing exersize apparatus. Can't express with words how good it will be when this goes away.

Awesome...Im so glad your doing better, each day is a little better I have found! I get really hungry so often but can't eat very much. What are you guys eating? Any ideas Im so sick of Cream OF chicken soup!!! haha

If you got sent home with a disposable inhalation spirometer... that is great to use. To be honest I am just recently being able to take deep breaths again and I got banded Feb 9. It took me about 2 weeks to get back to normal breathing and I probably should have used the apparatus more than I did. You should however report this to your doc because they may want to take chest X-Rays and a CT just to rule out any pulmonary issues (like a clot getting lodges somewhere).
