I was banded on October 9th by Dr. R. Marvin. I would also love to participate in a support group in this area.

Has anyone adopted a workout regeime?

We still have our meetings in Pasadena off the Beltway and Fairmont. We've moved it over the last few months to inside Target at the Barnes & Noble Cafe. Our meeting time is still 6PM every Thursday. There is also a new group that meets on Saturdays in Alvin once a month. I think the next meeting will be next Saturday, 10/20, at 1:30PM. They are having their 3rd meeting. They were meeting at the Chillis but I believe they have moved this months to a different location. If you are intersted in the Alvin I can find out the location.

Also, what does SAHM stand for?

In Pasadena we have group members who bring their children sometimes with no problem. The only problem is for the kids, they might get bored. We all love kids!

Do you know when the next meeting in Alvin will be? Is there an email address or something of someone that I can get in contact with?

Hello I am in League City I was banded by Dr Spivak on April 3 2007. I have a company in League City to. Is there anyone that goes to the meetings at Dr Spivak? I really need to get back to going. It is just so hard when I am always working. I know there is somewhere on here where people are trying to get a group together for the areas mentioned. Stacey:laugh:

Hello!

I live in Pearland (at the edge of Friendswood) and I was just banded in July by Dr. Spiegel. I am looking for a support group that is closer to this area. I work full time and got to school most nights so I can't make it to any scheduled ones with Dr. Spiegel for now.

I work in Clear Lake and have been in the area for years! I am just looking for someone else I can talk to! :cursing:

Thanks!

I live in League City and was banded by Dr. Ferrari at Memorial City. I've been looking for a local support group. Did you ever form or find one?

Hello all! This is space guy.... I was banded with a realize band on 12/30/08. Getting ready for a new life! My doctor is Dr. Michael Story, and he is over on FM1959(Dixie Farm Rd.) at Hwy. 3. He has been doing the surgery for quite some time, and, I HIGHLY recommend him! The surgery was performed at the Doctors Outpatient Hospital in Pasadena, and, I can say that they are the best! I guess for me, the hardest part so far is the full liquids, and having my band tell me I am full... I received my first sense last night, with a bit of uncomfort in the upper stoma... As far as any other problems, I have had none, and am thankful for that. Anyway, glad to see an area for those of us down in the clear lake area... Good Luck to all!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
