i really want to see slumdog millionaire, but i have a hard time getting DH out to the movies. he likes to wait till their on demand and watch in his media rm. think he' just likes the pause feature a bit too much.

i'm a big coen brother fan, and saw burn after reading this wkend. not one of their best, but i do like john malkovich... he played a great drunk:)

I love going to the movies but I really think I love renting them more..the last few movies we saw were:

Coraline which kinda scared me lol and I don't really think it's a kids movie but I may just be a big wienie.

Revolutionary Road I loved it! I thought it was great!

And He's Just Not That Into You which I hated but I'm not really a "chick flick" kinda gal.

Did anyone see Slumdog Millionaire?

Me, me! I loved it. I thought it was the kind of movie that is more than the sum of its parts and, to me, that's the sign of a great movie.

I thought it made India seem really alive, too. I hadn't been that interested in visiting it before this from watching it on the Amazing Race.

I was so happy when Slumdog Millionaire won all kinds of awards. I think I may go home and make some more Madras Deviled eggs to Celebrate. :w00t:

Did anyone catch Hugh Jackman at the grammy's?

He was so wonderful! I was very impressed with his singing and playfulness...he's my new hollywood fav.

Thanks all for reply about SDM. I think I have to go see it now. I'll give my 2 cents here after I do.

I didn't see the Grammy's, and it was the first time in years...

Okay that just made me LOL!

My bf and I really have a hard time picking movies to rent. He likes the guy movies of course, (action type) and sci fi. I hate either of those type of movies.

I like comedies and dramas. We both liked Grand Torino. Those are the types of movies we can watch together.

I saw Slum Dog and thought it was a good movie. I saw it because I figured it would win the award. I didn't think it was as good as "the Best Movie of the Year"

Nobody has mentioned Changling. That was a good movie.

I am lucky that it's really cheap to go to the movies here, so I go often. It would be nice to find more that I could see with the bf, but mostly I go with my other friends.

I hope this thread keeps going so I can write down some ideas of movies to rent. I am always walking around Blockbuster in a daze, not knowing what to get. I want to rent Crash, because bf has never seen it, but it's always out.

i thought he was great - but he was SLAMMED in reviews, as corny....

so - last night DH thought diner & a movie (movie being at home of course). the best nap of my life: Body of Lies (russell crowe / lenoardo dicaprio). GREAT acting, BAD screenplay - way too long, i fell asleep 1:30 in & DH said i missed nothing.

I think that's why I'm not pulled by those movies. It really needs to keep my attention. I've tried to get through a couple movies, thinking I just fell asleep because I was tired, exhausted, etc - but I just can't.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
