Max. amount of carbs and sugars?????

My doctor never gave me any specifics on the max. amount of carbs. and sugars although I was told to at least get 70 grams of protein a day. I realize if you get 70 grams of protein in chances are you are not getting alot of carbs and sugars anyways, BUT can anyone tell me about how many carbs and sugars that I don't need to go over just in case it is one of those days that it is hard to get my protein in? THANK YOU!

In the manual my Dr. gives to all of his patients under "Guidelines To Follow":

• Eat until comfortable NOT FULL
• Choose Protein first, vegis second, carbs last
• Eat slowly, chew well
• Don't drink 30 minutes before or 30 minutes after meals
• Avoid high calorie liquids
• Exercise daily
• Protein: Men: 80-100gm/d
• Women: 60-80
• 48-64 ounces Fluid per day
• Carbohydrates: 50-60 gm/d
• Fats 4-5 gms per meal

I hope this helps.
