Hello everyone from Texas, thining about the Lapband Surgery

Hi my name is Heather, I am married with 2 wonderful children.

I had hodgkins lymphoma when I was 28and every since then I get sick often do to a weakened immune system. I am at my heaviest weight to date at 230 pounds and I am only 5 foot one.I look at pictures from when after my daughter was born of my self and I think I am looking at a different person. I use to be pretty and I don't feel that way any longer. This is a picture of me and my daughter about 4 years ago when I was about 30 pounds thinner then I am now. I have been thinking about getting the Lapband or Bypass surgery and I can not decide which would be right for me. I do not have a lot of excess time for doctors appoints since I have a 4 year old little boy with mild autism to care for during the day. I really want to feel better both phycially and emotionally.

Well I think you are pretty. You and your daughter look so sweet together.

Will they put a band in you with a compromised immune system? It is a foreign object. This is something you definitely need to talk to the surgeon about.

In addition to Lap-band and bypass, you also might want to consider the sleeve or DS. Here is a chart that compares all four surgeries commonly done today:

Whatever time you do have, do your research and take a look at the stories on this board. I have found the information very helpful and am nearing the completion of my insurance process and hope to be banded in April! Good luck!

Where at in Texas are you? I live in Grapevine.
