I am going to cry- I was banded on Feb 24 and I have not lost anything....unless you count to same 5 pounds that I have lost and gained ten times over! The thing is that until a few days ago I was eating within the rules and exercising most every day. In fact I was full on one cup of food. I am eating way less than I was before surgery but before surgery, I was losing weight. I have my first fill tomorrow. I hope the doc is aggressive, with the fill.

Wow!! I haven't been on lapband talk for a long time. I had surgery 2-11-09. I'm trying to get to the 50 pound mark, but just hover around 45 mark. I just want to be below 200 again!!! I feel like it's never going to happen.

Today I went out to lunch with some co-workers and the food got stuck and after 20 minutes of agonizing pain I finally threw up, twice!!! I was concerned that my first fill was too much, but when I called the Dr. office they asked me some questions and we came to the conclusion that I may have eaten too fast. Hopefully that is the case and it doesn't happen again.

I'm sorry to hear you aren't losing. I was banded on feb 25 and i've lost 70lbs so far. I've had 2 fills, the second one was to much and i had to get some removed but just went for 3 month check up last week and she had to take more out since I started getting acid reflux for over a month. I was way to tight, I dont have acid reflux anymore. I was to tight and tried to ignore all the signs. I"m pretty happy with my progress so far. I just need to exercise to get tone.

That is so strange you haven't lost any. Are you sure you are eating the right foods? I had my share of bad foods but cutting my portions helped me lose the weight. Good luck to you! Let me know if you have any other questions.

I was also banded on 13 Feb 2009 and have lost 60 pounds but have been flat the amount of weight lost over the last few months; I've been at one weight with a =/- of 3 pounds. Part of my problem lately is stress eating and I'm trying hard to drink Water when I'm stress and want to eat. But, this will take time and very difficult to over come. I meet with my doctor on a monthly basis and they have very encouraging. I've had two fills since my initial fill. After four months, it was added fill o make the band smaller and fours months after that was an unfill to increase the size of the band because I was having issues of nausea and others. I'm also stationary biking three times a week and up to a half hour/5 miles. :)

Hi, Seems we all have a time when we struggle. I seemed to have the opposite time effect. I was banded on 2/10/09. I lost about 20# until my first fill in May ( insurance dictates!) I then lost about 13#. I gained it back over the summer. Had the second fill in Sept. when I really felt restriction. Losing about 5-8# a month. Feeling the band do its job. Feeling in control even though I am a slow loser. :) Hope to lose 50# by New Year's. I never could have done this without the band.

One interesting thing is that my clothing size has hardly changed. I just starting getting rid of my original clothes so I am feeling much more motivated. I was at the Obesity Help conference and at our table the input was that clothing sizes did not change much until the 60# mark esp. if you have a lot to lose. Any thoughts?

Would love to hear from more of you.

Note this post was last April- once I had restriction I lost really well. Then I took a long flight and had to have an unfill. I didn't lose in Sept and Oct. I had a fill in mid October. I was losing slowly until last week when I realized I was having too much sugar and being careless about the band rules. I have lost 4 pounds in the last week.

I was recently on a plateau and I thought I was following the rules most of the time. I am very active on another site and I posted a daily score card of band rules for myself and others. I would fess-up daily and it only took a week to figure out what I was doing wrong. This wasn't why I started the score card, but I soon realized that my occasional sugar treat was a daily habit, I was not taking 20 minutes to eat, and I was not getting enough Water.

but I soon realized that my occasional sugar treat was a daily habit, I was not taking 20 minutes to eat, and I was not getting enough Water.

YES!! My occasion treat I realized, was becoming my focus and my hourly treat!! lol I have been VERY lucky that my baaad habits have not caused a gain, I am just not losing. Which seriously? If I really work this I bet I will lose very fast, like I did in the begining.

I am so glad I got back on here. I was feeling like SUCH a failure. But we are all human and everyday has a new dawn.

I am having a port revision next Friday and so until then I am forcing myself to do the liquid pre-op diet. I think this will accomplish two things. Getting my snacking back out of the picture and also a sort of "pouch test". I just want to start over. I had this nailed back in February! :)

I am excited again...like I haven't been for a while. I am so glad we are all here!

I was banded on 2-3-09. I have averaged 8-10lbs every month except last month. I suffered a great lost with the unexpected death of my mother. She was my very best friend and biggest supporter. She is the one who convinced me to have this surgery.

I had not had a fill since June so when I went to my last appointment and had only lost 2lbs they gave me a fill. I am now back on track and seeing a therapist to deal with my grief without turning to food. As of today I am down 89lbs with 54lbs to get to my goal.

Has anyone else had to deal with the death of a loved one while on this journey? If so I would love to hear how you are staying focused. My greatest supporter is gone. I need all the help I can get.

Hey ja9rhone.

I am so sorry to hear about your mother and biggest supporter:crying:

Just try to remember when you are struggling, what she wanted for you. You were very lucky to have a supportive Mom! I told my Mom in the beginning of all of this that I was going to see a nutritionist to work on my weight and she said "oh good I was afraid you were going to have WLS. That's such a cop-out" So I haven't told anyone

So I am going to give you the advice I have given myself but have yet to follow...lol Join a support group or two. There are other people going through what you have gone through....although maybe not both at the same time. It helps to have someone to lean on. When my Dad passed away I was very lucky to have my Husband for a couple of reasons. He is a great friend and partner but he had already lost his Dad too. It really helped having support from someone who has "been there"

You'll be in our thoughts!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
