Hi AshleyB,

I too just received noticed that my Band is scheduled for March 27. My girlfriend and I are going to do it together. This is a journey that should be shared with someone else so what a better way. Pretty soon we will be sharing meals at restaurants and not being upset at who got the larger meal.

I'm scheduled for lap band tomorrow morning in Knoxville, TN. My Physician is Greg Mancini, with UT weight loss and surgery center. The process was a nightmare, but I'm finally there. I've lost 44 lbs. so far prior to surgery. I lost 10 pounds the first week on my 2 wk pre-op liquid diet. So far so good. I have an amazing and supportive wife, that will help me tremendously. Tommorrow 7am I get to start living my life without my best friend being food form now on. I look forward to sitting comfortably on an airliner, travelling.

Hey all. well Im on week 3 now. I had band on March 16th, down from 402 on day of surgery to 384 today. Down from 462 in the 6 months prior to surgery so I have made tremendous progress. Any late month banders, here are my suggestions for success:

1. Stay EXACTLY to the 2 week liquid only diet. Getting the liver out of the way by shrinking is soooo important to successful surgery/healing.Do chicken broth, do some strains of Soup about once every 3 days so you don'tget too discouraged. Stay with Atkins or other better Protein shakes.

2. Plan to be out of work at least one week. You could do it sooner but your pain and healing will not be good.

3. Get up as soon as humanly possible to walk after surgery. I did a lap of the unit within one hour of being returned to the unit. Also, use a spirometer right after as well. Ask for it. Blow the gas off the body and you will feel better.

4. Be careful what is put on your tray if you are hospitalized overnight. My tray was seriously screwed up. The doctors DID NOT change their mind, someone in te kitchen screwed it up, so point it out to nurses immediately if soemthin on your tray doesnt look right. They could have harmed my new stomach seriously that very first evening if I had not noticed.

5. When you get home, WALK. Oh and Walk, and did I mention walk? So important.

6. Get fresh air/ it will help you feel back to normal quicker, good for the lungs.

7. Two weeks out start to try some cloudy liquids, but stay to the post-op diet. Healing internally is everything.

Any questions ask.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
