TV - Skinny teen got a Bypass in Mexico

Did anyone watch TV last night and see a show where a young teen went to Mexico to get a bypass operation? She was already skinny, but her mother was one of those uptight skinny bitches that always hounded her young daughter about weight. So the girl snuck off to Mexico and got a bypass operation. They showed the scars on her flat tummy, and I was shocked.

She got really botched up, and the hospital said they needed to reverse the bypass. I fell asleep right during her operation, so I'm dying to know what happened.

I was just flipping through channels, and I don't know any of the actors so I don't even know the name of the show.

I know it was fiction, but I still want to know how it ended! I've heard of that show but never got a chance to see it. Not a bad show!

But honestly, it could really happen. Anything goes in Mexico. Dr. Kuri never even asked for ID when I had my port removed.

I was channel surfing last night and found this show called "starved". Of course, it caught my eye. It is a twisted view of eating disorders. This show is also fiction...but I bet there are people in the world this screwed up. Then again, I do a lot of the same stuff they do- so maybe I'm screwed up too. Anyway, it was on F/X. Said it would be on again on Thursday- can't remember the time. It was actually pretty funny. Definately not something that children should watch.. I would compare the dialogue with sex and the city.

I saw it long ago... but gosh darn if I could remember... Hmmmm I think it was reversed and they talked to her about her self esteem or something.. one of the Dr. yelled at the mother... even the dad got upset at the mother... Im really not to sure.. but I think thats what happened... I cant wait for the new season to start

hey Lisa, I was simply confused by the first post, I thought it was a real case that you saw on the news.

Oh, and I don't doubt that it could possibly be real. I don't doubt that there are people out there that were subjected to the RNY (or maybe even the band for that matter) because of their crazy parents. We know all about crazy parents, except for when you are in D-E-N-I-A.....

I was just a little freaked out at the thought of a skinny young woman getting the RNY, what with having recently re-read Jessica's blog. That and my friend is recoving from the RNY...

When I flew to Mexico for my original surgery, I had to wait for another patient coming from another flight. I kept looking out for an obese woman, when this "chubby" very attractive woman approached. I thought she was the patient coordinator and was shocked that she'd have WLS to lose 30 pounds. I later learned she freaked out in the operating room and refused to go through with it, but then later they talked her into it. We exchanged numbers, but she never responded to any of my contacts.

Someone posted on another thread (the one about Mexican and experiences) that they didn't think anything like this could happen in real life, but I think it could. I'm almost sure it will now, as if that show was publicity for rich anorexic teens with access to cash and weekends in Mexico. Scares me.

It's called Grey's Anatomy and she survived the repair surgery. The doctor turned her mom into Child Protective Services for being emotionallly abusive. Good show!!

DeLarla,

Starved was just advertised again. It comes on at 10pm this Thursday night. I'm not sure which zone. It was so funny-very twisted. For example, this chick is out to eat with her 3 male friends. She gets up to wash her carrot...then she came back to use her food scale to weigh the carrot. (Now, while she was gone to wash the carrot, her 3 male friends weigh their...well, you get the idea.) They wanted to see how they would measure up against the carrot. All of them had an eating disorder. One of the guys was bulemic. The chick and this other guy had anorexia. There was one big guy that used food to comfort him (hits close to home for me). One of the skinny guys, would buy snack cakes and cover them with ajax. He would throw them in the trash, and when he was under stress, he would dig them out and eat them....cleaner and all. And yet, they managed to make all of this very funny. On the previews, this same guy goes to the doc to get some sort of G I test and it shows him with Water squirting out of his butt like a`fountain...spraying the other patients.

I can't believe I'm not staring in that show! I need to get some headshots done and move back to Hollywood... that's right up my alley!

Glad to know the bitch was turned into CPS on Grey's Anatomy. It's sad that lots of parents are really like that, too.

I really enjoyed Starved. Hit a little hard for DH though. Of course, he's the one with the eating disorders....

He said the digging through the garbage is more a bulimic thing than an anorexic thing, but the thinks the thin man has a combined anorexic and bulimic thing going on.

I wouldn't wish eating disorders on anyone. I've been learning about them from DH and from some of the folks here. We also have a couple of bulimics in my program at school. Their behavior remeinds me of one the teens I used to care for--she had a heroin addition, among other drugs...

Did you guys catch "Starved" last night...too funny.
