Hello! Calling all Georgians, anybody there?

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow GA bandsters. I live in Kennesaw and work in Calhoun and had Dr. Ponce do my OR on 7-27-05. SO far so good, but no fill yet but I am eating a lot less. Just started on solids. I am looking forward to my 1 month visit on Thursday. So far I have lost 22 lbs. since my consult. Hope after a fill it picks up but as long as it keeps gong down I will be happy.

Good luck to you future bandsters.

Bonnie

I really like my band... it has taken a lot of work to learn what I can and cannot eat, but all in all I am quite pleased. I have lost 27lbs and 30 1/4 inches since surgery.

I have also found that food does not occupy my every thought anymore and that is a welcome change.

I'm from Atlanta and scheduled to have surgery in Mexico October 21st. I'm trying to plan ahead for the fills. Unless I want to pay a $2000.00 consultation fee and then $500.00 for each fill, it looks like having fills in Mexico is the only viable options. If anyone has any other alternatives, I would love to hear from you.

Hi Nickie, how do I get in touch with Dr Horgan? I just had a fill last week in

TJ, so I won't be needing one for awhile, but would definately been interested

in finding a closer dr. than Mexico.

Thanks

Rhonda

Hello this is Jason i am in south GA, valdosta-tifton area. I am interested in getting the lap band and are looking for some information on doctors. My original insurance is not going to cover it, so it looks like i will be going to mexico like many of you. Is it really safe over there? I am 6ft 340 pounds and need to get rid of this weight.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
