I found this site out by accident at work excited to see all the supporters I am being Banded on the 9th of March, meeting with my doctor on the 27th. Very excited I was in shocked when I got the letter of approval from my insurance. DH is kind of worried of "losing" his sexy wife, but I reasurred him he will love the new ME b/c I will be able to do more with him and my daughter who is 8. I can't wait to no longer be the Fat Mom. :)

Hi there, March 6th for me. So far I'm 1 week into the pre-op diet and I've already lost 13 lbs! But I'm so tired. How are you all doing?

Dear Tinakins,

I can't believe you've lost 13lbs on your pre-op diet, are you starving yourself? Please tell me what you have been eating on your pre-op diet. I start mine on the 3rd of march and I'm not sure what you eat apart from low fat, I wondered if you just buy anything that says 'low fat' on it? Please will you let me know!

Thank you

Penelope

Joining in because I hope to have my surgery scheduled for March. Have a meeting with my surgeon the 23rd (this coming Monday). Requirements to get qualified included an EKG, stress test, sonogram, and seeing a psychologist. Passed all of the above.

I want to be able to give my office at least 2, hopefully 3 weeks notice, so they can arrange coverage for my spot while I'm out.

Speaking of out, since I am self pay, I am going to take as long as possible for recovery. Going to treat this as a very expensive vacation, even though it's not the Bahamas :)

Are you going to the Brigham for your surgery? Your diet sounds exactly like mine. I started the preop diet 2 weeks before I was suppose to but I have added a few carrots and lean turkey to eat between meals, for now. I start the strict diet on the 26th of Feb. I have lost about 5 pounds on the diet and the rest came off beforehand, 12 lbs total. Who is your surgeon?

Hi, My surgery date is March 26th. On one hand - I can't wait, but on the other hand - I'm freaking out. I'm kind of concerned because if I was able to follow the requirements of diet change and better eating habits (pre-op and post op), I wouldn't be fat and then I wouldn't need to have the surgery. Don't get me wrong, I want the surgery - but I don't want to fail either. A little over 2 years ago I lost about 35 lbs on my own, but when I had an ankle surgery I got lazy and began to gain weight, got kind of depressed - and now 2.5 years later I've got the 35 lbs back, plus a few. My body has got to be tired after being on the rollercoaster ride for about 15 years (up & down, up & down, etc.). Reading the posts on this forum helped me in decide to have the surgery. Keep your fingers crossed for me. :hurray:

Im being banded 3/16/09, with Dr Lucktong being my Doctor who is performing my surgery. All of us March banders need to keep each other lifted up and updated on each others progress. So what is going to be the March banders name, hope everyone has a positive outlook going in and coming out of surgery.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
