Soda soda soda
I was off for 2 months and now I'm back. My doc said it wouldn't affect me if it didn't hurt when I drink it....So I do. But still trying to cut down. Don't keep it in the house!

Beginner to exercise questions
I have lost 27 pounds since surgery, but have decided to start exercising. I read all these posts and think that I'm not doing enough. I'm 278 pounds and have not worked out in over 3 years. Right now my plan is to do cardio for 30 min 3x a week. Then the other 3 days I will do 20 min of cardio plus weights and crunches. This leaves me with one day off. Should I do more? I read all your posts about running and stuff and I just don't know if I could do that. What do you think?

Am I alone?
So, I was on week five, normal foods, after surgery with no fill. The doctor didnt' put anything in my band when he put it on or anything, but after like 1-2 cups of food, I couldn't eat anymore at all! Like there was restriction. Apparently there was some because when they did my first fill yesterday, he showed the restriction before saline (a lot actually!!) and then decided to only add 1.6 cc's (I think, I know it was less than 2) because I was already too tight. Am I the only one who got restriction just from the band?? Or am I just totally weird.

Any type one diabetics??
I was banded on 4/10 and am a type one diabetic since my teenage years. Just wondered if there are any type bandsters on here.

First fill
Congrats! He only gave me 1.4 CC's because it was pretty restricted without a fill! I really hope to start seeing some more weight loss after a 2 week plateau!

How do you NOT drink with meals?
I am with you! I am a week before my first fill and I am still drinking with meals, because I get SO THIRSTY!!!! Ugh...this is going to be my biggest challenge. I KNOW I can do it but it's going to hurt like hell (mentally).

Food help!
I have a feeling we are fine. I mean I chew the food to a pureed consistency, I guess if we don't then the problem happens......????

Food help!
I have been on "soft foods" for a week now. I went off pureed foods last week. According to my doc, soft foods are those that can be broken up with a fork, including ground beef and toast. So I had 2 slices of pizza and some salad the other day. I did fine and chewed REALLY well, cause at that point it's soft! I'm not overeating, and if anything am not getting enough calories. Do you think I did a lot of harm???

Wanted to introduce myself!
Thanks Pharmagirl for helping me find this place! I was banded 4/10/09 in Kansas City with Dr. Niazy Selim. I had 4 incisions, and was allergic to the pain meds, so I took children's tylenol to get over the pain. I'm 32 pounds down so far! I haven't lost a single pound this week because I only am getting about 800 calories a day. I am TRYING to get more, but it's very difficult for me!! Just wanted to say hi to you all!

$20,000 down the drain?
Just keep with it is all I can say. I was just recently banded...so I haven't been on the journeys, but don't give up. Part of this journey is learning to think about food differently and to really recognize hunger pain too. Have you ever had your thyroid tested? That can affect your hunger levels too...Good luck to you!

Week 3 plateau???
That is soooooo true! My clothes are fitting soooo much better!!!! I'm so impatient, but I need to get over it!

Week 3 plateau???
Thanks Stephanie! My doc prohibited exercise until 5 weeks out, but I have been going on walks to generally build up my ability to actually work out again. That makes sense what you said, but boy, I eat I don't lose weight, I don't eat I don't lose weight, ugh! LOL!

Week 3 plateau???
I was banded 4/10/09 and had lost 23 pounds at my 2 week weigh in. I'm in my 3rd week, and have not lost a single ounce according to the scale. I'm not pmsing or retaining water. I eat approx 800 calories a day...why haven't I lost anything this week???? Numerically, that seems impossible!

Mushy vs. Pureed
I'm so confused... My instructions for week 2 (which I am starting today) is to eat "pureed, all foods are blended, baby food consistency, and thin enough to pour off a spoon." Then week 3 and 4 is "Mechanical soft-food that is mashed with a fork, or food you could eat if you did not have teeth." So......all the mushy food suggestions seem to be mechanical soft. What can I eat for pureed besides Soup and cream of wheat? I was eating the non Clear liquids since last Wednesday, so I'm past the pudding, Jello, yogurt, cream blended soup stage...but to what?? Any help would be appreciated!
