Itching question, and mushy food...

2 questions...

First, I started itching very badly around my incisions yesterday (I was banded 4/10). When I woke up this morning, I have bright pink "rings" around my inscision site. Should this be a cause for alarm??

2nd question

I had a scrambled egg this morning. First mushy food, and it hurt a little going down. Should I be eating it a different way? I chewed it very, very well, but now I just feel like it's sitting there....Do you think I have band slippage?

Thanks for the help!!

I wouldn't worry about the band slipping--it is very hard to do that. BUT I would worry about the "rings". Personally I'd go to Urgent Care or the Emergency room.

The same thing happened to me (banded 4/1/09). My surgeon told me that it was an allergic reaction to the glue that they put under the steri strips. He said I also had an alergic reaction to the glue (alcohol based) on the topical dressings that they put on. Once those dressings came off the itching started to subside and it's gone now. Check with your surgeon but that's my guess.

Ditto to what Realizein CT said. I too was allergic to the glue and strips that they put on me. I ended up getting a bunch of little blisters all around the incision area. My incisions have all healed nicely, but the area that had the blisters still looks a little funky. I was banded on 3/27. I'd check with your doctor because he can tell you for sure. Good luck!
