Preggy progress/Updates/Tell us how you're doing!

:thumbup:Hi guys! I know we have been keeping each other posted in various other threads, especially "Banded & Hoping to Get Preg", but since the title of that thread doesn't exactly give out the best info, I am starting a new one for all to post their fun pregnancy stuff, like how appointments go, how the baby is, when we find out the sex, due dates, etc etc!!

Here's my info for today!

We had our 13/14 wk appt today. I am very aware of my ovulation/menstrual cycle, so by my dates we are 13 weeks, however the docs say the baby is measuring 14 weeks. Whatever, it's gonna come when it's good and ready! We got to hear the baby's heartbeat today and it was good and solid, also fast. About 160 Beats per Minute, so there is a good chance the baby is a girl if you go off the heart rate literature. Lower rates like 120-145 BPM are often boys, higher rates from 150-180 BPM are often girls.

Other than that, all is well! I'm officially out of 1st trimester and had another lb lost, which is great as that means I technically didn't gain. The first few weeks I was starving so gained 4-6 lbs real fast, then the hunger tapered off and the band got kinda tempermental and tight on certain days, so I have lost what I gained...YIPPEE! Hearing the heartbeat was wonderful, it made it more real, just like our first ultrasound did.

ok so I just found out that I am pregnant and I am freaking out!!!! Did everyone have to get their fills reversed or part of it? I am not sure what to do? I guess I need to call my lap-band doctor I just wanted to see what everyone did...thank you!!!:scared2:

Danitra,

I'm only like 9.5 weeks along, but i had a slight unfil last week. Only 0.3 cc out, but it helped a lot. I have always kept my band on the tight side though, so i definitely still have restriction, but i am able to eat all the veggies and protein i need.

Congrats on the pregnancy! How far along are you?

Dewl,

Thank You and congratulations on your pregnancy! I am 5 weeks....so excited it is my first pregnancy. Is this you first? only .3 cc that is not alot. I am able to eat alot more now that I am pregnant but I fear I will stretch my band! Keep me posted on what is going on. are you going to find out what your having? It is so exciting that another banded person is pregnant!!!:rolleyes2:

Do you and can you still have fluid in the band while pregnant?

I kept my whole fill while preggo! My band baby is now a VERY LARGE FOR HIS AGE 4 months! He's not chubby, just long, gonna be tall!

congrats on a healthy pregnancy and baby!!!! I spoke with my Dr's office today and they suggested to keep it all also...they just had a patient that was delivered last week with no unfills and her baby was 6 pounds but 2 weeks early...very exciting news!!!

Danitra,

I had my fill completely out because I get very sick with pregnancy and didnt want to throw up with the band. I think as long as your gaining and not losing .. and not sick you can keep your fill or adjust it slightly as you go..

congrats! I just had my baby 7weeks ago..

Hey all you Breastfeeders out there.. I am dying to get a fill because I am wanting to eat everything in sight.. did anyone have any problems with milk supply after getting filled?? I was hoping to wait 3 months because I wanted the milk supply to be good and established before I got a fill.. but I think I am not going to wait because I dont want to gain more weight. I think as long as I keep my fluid up and can eat at least 1200 cal I think I am ok..

I have hungry days and then I have not so hungry days, but i'm losing weight while breast feeding (10 lbs in the past 3 weeks) so i'm gonna hold off on a fill because this is adequate weight loss and i'm certain my baby is getting enough nutrition. If I stop losing and start eating too much I may consider it, but for now, i'm holding off...how is your milk supply looking? Have you tried pumping to see how much you are producing?

Shrinknme,

Thank You for the info it is greatly appreciated...I am doing ok with eating so far and not throwing up! So I am excited to keep my fills...hopefully you can get some more when they are needed.

I think it is 1600 calories a day that is needed to support breastfeeding. If you can get enough healty food in, you should be fine.

Do you and can you still have Fluid in the band while pregnant?

Everyone is so different, it all depends on your body. Some are fine with a fill the entire time, some need a small unfill and some can not tolerate any fill.

For me I got ultra-sensitive to the band during pregnancy, needed three emergency unfills and had a slip in the hospital during delivery on an empty band which led to a band replacement. The absolute first symptom of pregnancy for me before any other (and I am talking within days of pregnancy) was extreme band tightness after I had been floating by with the same fill for six months.

I think the level of fluid is something you just have to take as it comes . . . let your own body be your guide as to whether you have too much or too little. Just be careful with vomitting . . . if it happens regularly a complete unfill is best or you may risk your band.

HeatherO,

You had to have your band replaced? that is scary! Is everything ok now? I can't believe that it slipped!!!!

Thanks Heather.. I scheduled a fill for Jan 8th.. I think I am going to follow weight watchers because they give you extra points for BF and tell you how much to eat to lose a lb a week..

I had to have my tube & port replaced post-baby... I swear I felt the day he kicked it loose, but my doc said the metal clip in the port eroded and snapped. I think what actually happened is it eroded, and his kicking snapped it in half.

My first tell-tale of pregnancy at only 4weeks was incredible band tightness. I scheduled an unfill but they couldn't get me in for a month.. that day I took a test, found out I was pregnant, and went in earlier for a small unfill. Everything was fine till the band broke, which was about 6m into pregnancy.. then I ate like a cow, and gained a lot of weight. For baby 2 (one day) I'm going to keep fill as long as I can.
