I'd like to ask just how many people have acid reflux problems after the surgery? Is this common?

Thank you !!!

Had it before banding, was on Nexium every day. One month after banding NO MORE REFLUX. From what I hear, eating too late @ night, lying down after eating & being filled too tight can cause it.

Had it BAD before surgery. My surgeon fixed a hietal hernia so that made it completely go away. I feel very lucky bc I suffered everyday for 10 years with this problem previously. I used to lay up all night in pain. I am so glad that is over.

I had reflux about 6 days a week before the surgery. I was constantly taking Pepcid, my mom even gave me some of her Protonix.....I can gleefully report that since the day of surgery I have not had reflux a single time!!! That in itself is almost better than any amount of weight I've lost!!

I was banded 1/31/05, last fill 7/21/05 and just these past couple of weeks i have been experiencing lots of acid reflux while i sleep. I bet it woke me up at least 6 or 7 times last night - ugh!!! I eat my last meal btwn 6-7pm and i have not been overeating. I don't know why it has started all of the sudden. Any ideas? I do have our support group meeting tonight and i plan to ask the nurse about it. But i am confused why all of the sudden 3 weeks after a fill acid reflux started???

I had it bad before banding, so bad I would wake up with acid in my mouth. It was usuall suagr or Tomato sauce based items. So anything acidy... Now, only if I take my pain pills on an empty stomach(s)... I have Fibromyalgia, so I take pain meds. Thank the Lord for drugs!!!

I'd like to vote yes BUT I have coped by not eating before bed, not eating foods that cause the reflux, etc. So it's not a big deal.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
