My reflux is awful. Never before surgery, but since it has been awful. I sleep with HOB elevated, don't eat late, have stopped those foods which seem to cause it. Even meds don't help. I even had fill removed for almot two years. Gained all my weight back. I have had a small fill and of course it is as bad as ever. (Even with fill removed still had some). I even reflux Water. Tried to take a nap with nothing but water and was awakened 3 times choking and coughing watery acid reflux. I'm so down. Maybe I am just meant to be fat. I'm going to try and go back to just liquids and see if this makes any difference. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I have had it since my last fill. Had 2 unfills for a total of 1 cc out. Been good so far, But can eat anything. Don't like that at all. Even bread is no problem now. I have a VG band with 11 ccs in it now. My doctor has been aggressive with the fills. Maybe too much?

I don't want to gain this weight back. I am flying in 2 weeks and he did say he wouldn't fill me until I get back. So, I have to deal with this for 4 weeks total. Any Suggestions?

I have developed GERD and asthma due the GERD. I take a dose of Aubuterol and Zantac faithfully before bed. If I forget I'm usually up at 2 am drinking pepto straight out of the bottle and coughing my lungs out. It sucks big time. I go to my fill doc tomorrow and we are definitely going to discuss my options.

I have went back on full liquids all day today, after basically being up and down most of the night. I have only had one episode of severe hunger, but I am hoping that tonight I will at least get to sleep. I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

I took Prevacid for a couple years before my Band and it took care of my problems (they were rather mild). After my surgery, for the first 5-6 months, I had no problems, but for the past couple of months I'm taking Prevacid and Pepcid and still being kept awake at night. Will talk to the Dr at the end of June. I hate this!!

Why did you have to be unfilled? I just was unfilled also, the last adj I had made me have heartburn so bad almost very night. I had some pain, the upper GI showed my band had slipped. So now I have to wait until June 12th for another upper GI and then then doctor will let me know if I can have a fill again. I leave for a trip on June 20th, I don't want to gain weight either. I'm trying very hard not to eat to much and make the right choices:frown:

the issue is being a little too tight. This is the only time I have problems with acid re-flux post banding. I had severe GERD before banding. Ask your doctor about the possibility of being a little too restricted, or possibly something caught in your band.

Hey, Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I am in Houston, TX right now. I had to get unfilled because I was having burning real bad. I guess acid reflux. But since I was going so far away, he said he didn't want to take a chance with it. So, I got an unfill until I get back to see him. It will be 4 weeks total. I am really having to watch it. Even gone back to WW points for now. I don't want to gain any back if I can help it. He doesn't think I have slipped, since the burning has gone since the unfill. We will see what happens when I get filled again.

Plus, he said the airplane would cause my band to tighten alittle and not to eat anything on the plane.

Never had a problem with it.

Yesterday I went back after being unfilled for almost 6 week with weight gain of 4 pounds. Not good, could of been worst. Doctor put back in 1.5 and now I fill full again. If it happens again then I need to have the band redone. When I was this level before I had bad heart burn bad. Good luck.........:smile2:

I have acid reflux, I never had it until I had the surgery. Don't know why .............maybe cause I still have a mild case of sleep apnea.

Funny thing after the surgery I also developed Post Dramatic Stress Syndrome.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
